the 2015 golden globe awards

Happy Monday everyone!

If you’re like me and stayed up later than usual to watch the Golden Globes – I feel ya this morning. Treat yoself to an extra cup of coffee today because you deserve it. If you aren’t already aware, award season is my FAVE, and I LOVE to do recaps. I’m a bit sad I don’t have more time this year to write a recap, but I did my best in between commercial breaks!

Let’s started with my picks for best dressed, shall we?

Salma Hayek – the fabric of this dress is a bit odd, but I love the fit & color of it!

Emma Stone – I love this look SO MUCH! It’s perfect for her body, I love the giant bow & the top of her jumpsuit is sparkly and fantastic. Next to Emily Blunt, I think this might be my favorite look.

Viola Davis – I know some people say wearing red on the red carpet is boring & predictable but I have to disagree. I think Viola looks absolutely stunning, and girl’s got some ARMS.

Allison Williams – Allison always looks dainty and fabulous and this look is no different. Her hair is borderline though – I HATE the wet hair look (see : Maria Menounous last night) but the dress makes up for it. Another red dress that I really liked!

Diane Kruger – truth: I have no effing clue what Diane Kruger is from/acted in/why she’s at the Golden Globes..but I love me a sparkly silver dress. A+, lady who I don’t know, ya killed it.

Lorde – I love me a jumpsuit. I love the crop top & her necklace. This kind of feels like it belongs at a music awards show, not the Golden Globes, but I’m still madly in love with it.

Amy Adams – she kind of nails it every time. Simple, yet elegant and not boring.

Anna Faris – I love this dress! Anna Faris is just adorable, and I loooved how cute her & Chris Pratt looked on the red carpet together.

Emily Blunt – I’m not sure why her face looks funny in this photo but OMG this dress! I think this whole look might be my fave. The braid halo, the dress, everything! Love. It.

Lupita Nyong’o – Lupita is quite possibly the most gorgeous human on the planet. The purple complements her skin so well, its so beautiful!

‘Kate Hudson – If I had a body like that, I’d wear a dress like that too. Bravo, Kate. If ya got it, flaunt it.

Anna Kendrick – Beautiful dress. She’s so stunning. Simple and Classic.

Aaaand the hosts of the evening : Amy & Tina. I will admit I did not care for their red carpet looks (except for Tina’s hair & jewels!) so I was sooo glad when they walked out on stage in much, much better dresses. These ladies absolutely killed the opening monologue, as per usual.

A. freaking. men.

The theme of this year’s golden globes seemed to be North Korea. The bit in the opening monologue was good. The Meryl bit was easily the best bit, but it kinda went downhill from there.

I haven’t seen Big Eyes yet, but this was good.

Award shows are like my Olympics. Not just because I love the fashion, and the jokes, and the drunk celebrities, but because they open my eyes to so many great films & television shows. Transparent was a big winner last night, as was Boyhood & Birdman. The Affair, Still Alice, The Grand Budapest Hotel, A Most Violent Year, Selma,  House of Cards (which has been on my must watch list for a year now), the list goes on. It always takes me awhile to fall asleep after watching because I’m so inspired by these wonderfully creative people who create amazing things. Hollywood is weird and awful in a lot of ways, but it does expose the world to talented people and real wonderful things.

/end weird rant. It’s 1 am and I am exhuasted, so please forgive me.

Moving on….

George Clooney gave a very nice speech while accepting some Lifetime Achievement award. He said very nice things about his wife that made my simultaneously “awh” and throw up in my mouth a little bit. I don’t know whose luckier: George Clooney because he is married to Amal, or Amal because she is married to George Clooney. Or maybe it’s Julianna Marguiles, because George Clooney called her “Jules”. Moral of the story: I’d still tap George Clooney.

sidenote: Did y’all catch their interview with E!’s Guilianna Ranic when she tried to get them to do tequila shots? Have you ever seen a more awkward interview in your life?! The side eye shade that Amal was throwing Gulianna was HILARIOUS.

Then Tina Fey came out in a rumpled tuxedo and everything was awesome. Would it be weird if my life goal was to succesfully pull off jumpsuit/lady tux? I just love them.

I’m rooting for Bill Hader & Kristen Wiig to host next year. They did a great job presenting, quite possibly the one presenters who weren’t awkward or inappropriate ( looking at YOU, JEREMY RENNER).

Overall it was  great show, with a LOT of diversity amongst the winners this year, which is always great to see. Now I know how many movies I have to watch before the Oscars.

Did you watch the Globes? Who was your pick for best dressed?!

Christmas trees make me SO happy. Yes, she is crooked, LEAVE HER ALONE.

1.I totally started writing this post a week ago and then was too tired last Wednesday to finish & post it last week so this is  mish mash of last week’s news and this week’s news. 🙂

2. Idina Menzel annouced a world tour for next summer and I about died of happiness. Her site crashed immediately after she announced, so I sat anxiously, waiting to see if there was any Canadian tour dates and lo and behold there are. I immediately texted Ariel and she graciously told me that we can drive to Montreal to see Idina. I kind of have the most amazing best friend in the world, y’all should be jealous.

Update: We bought tickets!!! September 1st in Montreal, 6 rows back from the stage, baby.

For now, enjoy this version of Let It Go from the CMA Country Christmas concert from earlier this week. SO. freaking good. I loooove Jennifer Nettles a whole bunches.

4. Let’s talk about TV: uhmmm SCANDAL?!! Holy shit that winter finale was so good. I don’t know how I didn’t see that Olivia kidnapping thing coming, but I was like WTF. I was totally convinced Papa Pope was gonna come out of the closet and knife Jake when he went to get the blanket. The scene between Papa Pope & Liv was kind of heartbreaking. Liv’s mom is hella cray, and Mellie straight up TOLD Liz . Endless Love playing in the background when Charlie & Quinn were beating the shit out of each other/ doing it? I laughed SO hard. Grey’s Anatomy is all kinds of UGHHHH. Derek did the same weird thing a couple of seasons ago. Remember when he had that thing where he liked to drive really fast and recklessly? It feels like that Derek is back and it’s awful. I much prefer the happy MerDer. I’m really warming up to the Arizona storyline, I like Geena Davis’ character a lot. Clearly not enough to remember the character’s name. Oopsie. The Good Wife was spectacular as usual, Cary & Kalinda kinda stole the episode for me, the last few scenes broke my heart in two. I’m very curious to see how everything is going to play out.

5. Now, movies – who has seen Mockingjay?! I still haven’t seen it yet & it is killing me!! Also soooo pumped for Into The Woods on Christmas!  And Pitch Perfect 2. And Jurassic World – just so many good movies are coming out, I can’t stand it. And Cake, starring Jennifer Aniston. It’s different than what she usually does and it looks amazing!

6. Speaking of Jennifer Aniston, did you guys see the Curse Off she and Lisa Kudrow did on Jimmy Kimmel? Hilarious.

I would SLAY at a Curse Off. I really, really want to do one. I’m not sure what that says about me, but I think it would be freaking hilarious.

7. My Macbook came last night and I am already obsessed. Retina Display is SO PRETTY. Looking at my PC now is like looking through dirty glasses and it is awful. I must say I am excellent at giving myself Christmas presents.

8. So far driving to Montreal for the concert next year are the only travel plans that I have and it is totally freaking me out. Ever since I got back from NYC, as happens every time I get home from a trip, I have spent a lot of time thinking about where I want to go next. January and February are going to be all about saving up the $$ to travel. I cannot for the life of me decide where I want to go, all I know is that I NEED to meet more blogger friends next year. I’m kind of obsessed with you guys 😉

9. What are your  favourite Christmas movies ?! I need some recommendations, I feel like I watch the same ones over and over every single year, and while I love them, I need some new ones! Do share please!

10. I’m unsure as to if I am going to watch Peter Pan Live tonight, but Laura Benanti auditioning for all the parts in the play is freaking hilarious.

Thanks again to Amanda  for hosting Thinking Out Loud Thursday.

Have a wonderful day lovely people!

being an adult is exhausting – a weekend recap

Happy Monday!

I kinda disappeared after posting my NYC recap last week, but it was my first full week at work post-vacation, thus meaning life kinda took over. It’s kind of funny how in just two weeks you can forget just how exhausting adult life is. Life is hard, y’all. As evidenced by my extreme crisis I had Saturday morning :

I survived, in case you were wondering.

Let’s rewind to Friday for a second. It started off great. Friday is the easiest day for me to get out of bed in the morning, probably because it takes me the entire five days to get used to waking up at 7am, only to be ruined every weekend by allowing myself to sleep in and thus perpetuating a continuous cycle of struggle come Monday morning.

I digress.

I was having a great hair day, the barista made my iced coffee right, all my clients showed up at work AND I got all my client paperwork done. When I got off work at 2:30 I had grand plans to get a shit ton of schoolwork and laundry done, go for a run, and obviously celebrate being home alone all weekend with a T Swizzle solo kitchen dance party.

I got home at 3 and immediately crawled into bed and napped until 5pm. On the drive home I was overcome with a feeling of exhaustion and my bed was calling my name. So, basically I got nothing done. I’m only human, people.

I managed to drag my ass out of bed to get the horse chores done, feed my dog, and fix myself some supper before Ariel picked me up to see a production of Annie at our local theatre.

I think it’s safe to say New York has ruined all my future theatre experiences, as I can’t help but compare. However, for a little town production it was pretty entertaining. The little girl playing Annie had a hell of a voice, and I enjoyed the songs. It beat spending the night at home watching Netflix.

Saturday (after I got over my aforementioned crisis) was spent actually getting shit done. Multiple loads of laundry, vacuuming, washing dishes, running, Chemistry homework, dog walking was all completed before spending the rest of the afternoon getting coffee and baking reindeer cookies. I had a few of my friends over Saturday night, had some drinks, pizza & garlic fingers, and took 1 photo the entire evening. Bad blogger alert.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Sidenote: I heard that you people in the US & even the rest of Canada do not know the magic of garlic fingers. TELL ME IT’S NOT TRUE. Y’all are seriously living life wrong. Come to Nova Scotia and I will enlighten you.

I went to bed waaaay past my bedtime Saturday night, and woke up waaaay too early Sunday morning. Sunday is the one day a week I allow myself to forego all productivity whatsoever and do whatever I want. Call it a should-less day, if you will.

I made myself breakfast while watching old episodes of Will & Grace. Best way to spend a Sunday morning.

I saw a matinee of Horrible Bosses 2.

It was really good. Sequels are SO iffy, but I must say they did a pretty damn good job of living up to the first one. Jason Sudekis kills me.

Sunday evening was spent  putting up my Christmas tree and watching Frozen. Not a bad Sunday at all if you ask me. I’d show you a photo of my tree, but she’s a little crooked right now, and I have to find a way to fix her up first.

ps: I’ve now seen Frozen a grand total of 8 times. Did you hear there might be a sequel?! You best not be lying to me, Miss Menzel.

I hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I’ll admit, I was hella jealous of the Instagram photos of all the food. I’m always surprised by how big of a deal y’all make Thanksgiving. My family barely has Thanksgiving dinner, it’s a tragedy really. I tthink one of you guys should host me next year and show me how it’s done 😉

How was your weekend? Details, please!

Did you go Black Friday shopping?! I bought a new laptop on Friday. Why are Macbooks so expensive?! It was necessary but I think I died a little.

1.  During the holidays, Bryant Park in NYC turns into this super amazing winter wonderland type deal, equipped with outdoor skating rink, and booths with vendors selling all kinds of neat stuff. We wandered for quite awhile through there, and came across a booth selling these awesome pouches. They are made by Pamela Barsky, and they are awesome. There were so many that I wanted – so many witty phrases, but after about 20minutes or so I finally decided on the one above. Sorry not sorry about the language. You should definitely visit her Etsy shop, they make great gifts! I also love this one  , this onethis one , and this one.

2. I saw the movie Best Of Me last night and I hate that I loved it. I’m one of those people who likes to act all tough, like I don’t like romance and love is gross blah blah blah. I’m pretty good at it most of the time, but put a romantic Nicholas Sparks movie in front of me and I’m toast. It’s ridiculous. James Marsden is in this movie, and he has scruffy facial hair, so basically that should be all the incentive you need to go see this movie.

3. Today is my first day back to work in two weeks and I am sort of excited about it. I’m glad I took two days off after I got back, but I am ready to get back into a solid routine. Travelling is my favorite, but routine is what makes me productive. Also, paid vacation does not exist when you are self employed so I best be getting to paying for all the crap I bought in New York.

4. Speaking of crap I bought, I bought this AMAZE winter coat at Old Navy that I am so in love with I want to wear it everywhere. I’ve been looking for a longer, puffy winter coat for awhile and I’m glad I finally landed it. Plus, it was only $60 during their outerwear sale. Hell Yes. Joe Fresh was also like walking into heaven. I got this sweater, and a few tshirts & a skirt – all for under $60.  I also purchased makeup at Sephora for the first time ever. Does that make me a girl now? I’m really, really bad at that kind of thing and would really love it if someone would come dress me & put my makeup on every morning. Please and thank you.

5. I’m trying really, really hard to not go into full holiday mode until atleast next week but it’s SO HARD. Last year I wrote exams until Dec.20th so I really didn’t get to do much Christmas related stuff so I am beyond excited to celebrate all December long with as much holiday related fun as possible, but I also don’t want to start to early and feel like I’m dragging it out? You know? Such a first world problem. I’ve got Idina Menzel’s Christmas album all downloaded, and just sitting in my itunes, torturing me. And I came across this music video for her version of Baby It’s Cold Outside with Michael Buble and I almost died. Michael Buble is my FAVE and this video is just beyond adorable.

Also, my parents have a rule of no Christmas decorations before December 1st, so there’s that.

6. These are hilarious. My personal fave?

7. I got to meet Kaitlin for lunch while I was in NYC, and she was the sweetest. Truth: I was super nervous, because I always am when I meet new people, but especially because it was the first time I’ve ever met a blogger friend! Anyone who introduces themselves with a hug is a winner in my books, and we had a great chat over lunch. I’d now like to meet all of you wonderful people so if y’all could hop on a plane and get your butts here to Nova Scotia that’d be graaaaand.

8. Pretty sure my first real NYC recap, aside from this weird word vomit thing I posted yesterday, will be about all the amazing food we ate while we were there. Typical, right? I already miss NYC food, and would KILL for Blue Bottle coffee right now.

9. Uhm, can we talk about Scandal for a hot minute?  Freakin’ Papa Pope is KILLIN’ ME. It’s the way he delivers those long speeches, his diction, that just kill me. Joe Morton is a great actor, he really makes the character great. Mellie can’t catch a break can she? I was kinda liking the VP, he seemed pretty decent. I also feel like there is this weird storyline that I haven’t quite figured out yet. Like WTF is actually happening with that Liz lady, and that guy Quinn & Huck were staking out? So confusing. HTGAWM is great. As expected. Haven’t watched Grey’s yet, but apparently it was really good? The previous week wasn’t the greatest, but that’s pretty much expected with Grey’s. The Good Wife is still my fave. It’s just so good. Alicia’s speech to Peter in the back of the cab? Stop banging the help? Fucking ace. YOU GO GIRL. And if Alicia & Finn could just get together already that’d be great, thank you. The Mindy Project got picked up for the full season, so that made my life last week. I’ve got Ariel hooked on it now, which is literally a miracle because she’s not into women lead shows at ALL, so if she likes it, most anyone would.

10. I tried really hard to think of a tenth thing because my OCD didn’t want to end on an odd number but I got nothing so I’ll just thank Amanda for once again hosting Thinking Out Loud Thursday!

#TGIT! Have a good one guys 🙂

What is your fave show right now?
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? What’s your fave Christmas album?

thinking out loud thursday #15

Hi!! Happy Thursday!

Can we take a second to acknowledge how I’ve been absolutely nailing the whole blogging thing this week?! 4 posts in a row baby. Give me an award or something! K thanks.

It seems like its been forever since I’ve done a Thinking Out Loud Thursday, and at work today I realized how much shit I want to ramble about today. Thanks again to Amanda for hosting! Ready for randomness?!

1. First off, Scandal is on tonight, as I discussed yesterday. I’m already dreaming of this evening, glass of Bailey’s in hand, anxiously awaiting for Olivia Pope to come back into my life. SNL Promos were also released yesterday and I realized how freaking excited I am for Chris Pratt to host. I love that man.

I also really love Kate McKinnon.

That reminds me, I had a client today who asked me what I was going to be doing in New York, and I briefly mentioned that I would love to get tickets to a taping of Jimmy Fallon and he said he didn’t like Jimmy Fallon. It took every ounce of self control not to freak out. WHO DOESN’T LIKE JIMMY FALLON?! He’s had so many good videos lately!

sidenote: uhmmm how awesome was Barbra Streisand last week?! Maybe that makes me 60 years old or something for saying I love Barbra Streisand but damn she was great.

Basically everything Jimmy does is hilarious and you should watch the show every single day.

/End Rant

2. Despite my absolutely insane schedule right now, I’ve made the time to go for quite a few gallops in the field. Both solo and with Ariel. There’s nothing like coming home from a long day and saddling up and just chilling out for a bit. No better way to clear my head.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset photo 4 (24) photo 2 (40) photo 1 (44)

3. My brother turned 17 last Wednesday. SEVENTEEN.  We are five years, two days apart, and always been super close. I’m a lucky girl to have a brother like him.

photo 1 (43)

4. My Aunt got me this Grumpy Cat mug for my birthday and it cracked me up. She is literally a crazy cat lady, and I love her for it. Ignore the fact I desperately need a mani & my arm looks like a man’s arm.

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

5. Speaking of Grumpy Cat, did you see that Aubrey Plaza is going to be the voice of Grumpy Cat in a Lifetime movie?! I’m not sure why a Grumpy Cat movie is necessary, but I cannot think of a more perfect person to voice it.

photo 5 (1)

6. I’m doing the tour de New France this weekend! I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m doing a 20km mountain bike race with Ariel & her paramedic friends this coming Saturday. While Ariel and I have been training all summer, we did a practice trail ride as a group last Friday morning. Holy. Hell. Ariel and I have mostly been doing road training, with a few dirt roads thrown in there. However, the ride last Friday was INSANE terrain. I felt like I was literally rock climbing with my bike at times. It was a really beautiful ride though, a 12 km out and back trail, with the turn around point at a beautiful lake. I got SO muddy it was ridiculous! The picture doesn’t even do it justice. I can’t wait to see what kind of views New France will bring on Saturday, even if I am likely going to die.

.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset photo 4 (25)

7. We have literally only had one day of rain for the entire month of September. There have been a couple rainy nights, so we aren’t in a drought or anything, but the weather has just been beyond phenomenal. There is nothing better than waking up to sunshine every single day (even if I’m not loving the chillier weather), and beautiful sunsets every night. I. Love. Fall.

photo 5 (20)

8. Speaking of fall, I laughed waaaay too hard at both of these.

photo 2 (2) photo 2 (1)

9. I went running the other day for the first time in about a month. I had forgotten how much running hurts. I think I’ll get back into a regular running routine after this weekend. I have been biking a lot to try and prepare for New France, so running had fallen to the wayside. I’m still planning on running a half marathon at some point, but at this point I think I will end up waiting until next spring. I really, really wish I had a training buddy!

10. Ariel and I are planning on jumping headfirst into fall this weekend with a viewing of Hocus Pocus, pumpkin painting/carving and some sort of pumpkin recipe. I’m ready! We are also planning to go see This Is Where I Leave You this weekend, has anyone seen it? The cast is awesome, and it looks really good!

And that’s all I have to ramble about! There’s a 99% chance I won’t be posting tomorrow, so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

thinking out loud thursday #12

Happy Thursday!!

I’m kind of laughing at myself for thinking that I would have so much extra time to blog and do other things once I finished school. If it’s possible, I’m pretty sure I am busier now than ever before! I swear I have intended to blog more, but it just hasn’t happened. Maybe I will get back in the swing of things next week, but for now let’s do Thinking Out Loud Thursday!

1. Truth: I have taken one single photo this week.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

And that would be my romaine, kale, apple, lemon juice from Monday. Another truth: it tasted awful, but was what my body needed. I’m a bad blogger, I know.

2. Word of advice : do NOT substitute kale for spinach in a green smoothie. It tastes like ass, and it’s just not worth it.

3. I went running last Friday for the first time in well over two weeks, and I didn’t totally hate it. It was when I was in the city, which I think helped. It was nice to have a new route, with new scenery. I am planning on going for a run later this morning as well, so we shall see how it goes! Slowly, very slowly introducing running back into my life.

Watch Jimmy Fallon throw balls at Julia Roberts’ face. You’re welcome.

Then watch The Roots freak out while watching the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer thanks to a little something Jimmy threw in their. Hilarious!

Side note: It made me DEEPLY uncomfortable when the Fifty Shades trailer came out a few weeks ago and it was all over my facebook page. I did not really need to know how many of my facebook friends enjoyed those books. I’m no prude, but those books were not movie material, IMHO. AND the Christian Grey they chose isn’t even that attractive. Rant over.

5. Things I do enjoy right now? Country freaking music. I don’t know what it is about summertime, but it’s ALL I want to listen to. Favorites include:

I could go on and on…

I also LOVE Sam Smith’s new video for I’m Not The Only One. I love the whole album, even though it’s kind of heartbreaking.

6. One last youtube, I swear. The trailer for Into The Woods!! I can’t even. I have been SO excited for this since they announced that they were filming it…last year! So pumped. I’m such a Disney lover. And Meryl Streep! And Anna Kendrick!

7. I registered for September courses today. I cannot believe that I have less than a month before I have to start classes again. I know August is going to fly by, and I really, really need it not to. I really only have two weekends at home left, as the second to last weekend in August I am travelling for a big softball tournament, and then Labour Day weekend will be spent in PEI ( seeing SHANIA). I’m definitely going to make the most of these last two summer weekends at home. Beach, beers, sunshine, riding ponies.

8. I need to take the time to figure out what the eff I want to do with this blog. Some days I feel like completely re-doing it, getting rid of the wordpress. com in my url, doing the whole self hosting thing, etc. Other days I think I don’t want it to be anything more than what it currently is. Some days I have a million ideas in my head and other days I have no ideas whatsoever. Something tells me I am waaay overthinking this, as per usual, but that’s just what is happening in my head at the moment. If I ever figure it out, i’ll let y’all know 😉

This was quite possibly the most boring and uninteresting post ever, but it’s all I’ve got.

What are your weekend plans?

Does you taste in music change with the seasons? Favorite songs right now?! I need a new running playlist!

thinking out loud thursday #10

Ahh, here we are once again, 11pm on a Wednesday night; the absolute perfect time for me to ramble on about random things. Thank baby Jesus for Thinking Out Loud Thursday is all I can say.

Holy. Crap. I went to see the late show of TFIOS on Tuesday evening. Perhaps a 9:35pm showing wasn’t the best idea after what was the longest day in the world, but I’m SO glad I saw it. I was beyond pleased with the movie. I can’t even imagine a better adaptation of the book! The casting was perfect, every performance was heart wrenching and believable. I don’t particularly like Shailene Woodley, as we differ in opinion on many things ( and she eats clay?!) but she is a damn good actress. So yes, if you haven’t seen this yet, go see it!

And this just made me laugh, I can’t help it!

2. My DVR is so full of Tonight Show & Late Night episodes that it’s ridiculous. However, I did happen to watch this while working out the other day and it cracked me up so much I had to stop because I couldn’t breathe.

And can we take a moment to appreciate how cute his People magazine cover is?!! Adorbs.
3. On Wednesday I went for my longest run since my race. I made it a full 8k without dying! As I have previously mentioned, I’ve felt SO off lately when I’m running, so I was SO happy yesterday. I have a feeling that all my school related stress has something to do with my feeling mentally off during my runs, but yesterday I felt great. My next 10k is July 19th. Technically I haven’t registered yet, but I’m now 98% I’m going to. I put off registration for a long time because my running had been so shitty.

4. Evening walks with my puppy are keeping me sane. How do people live without dogs, honestly? I cannot even fathom it.

5. This is kind of old news now, but Amy Poehler’s book is now available for pre order!! I am SO excited, obviously.

6. I haven’t read a book for pleasure since Gone Girl in March ( ps Carrie: I’m gonna send it back to you, I SWEAR) I started one other one, but haven’t had the time/energy/desire to. I’m started to get real excited for reading for pleasure once school is done. I feel so left out in blogland, it seems like people are able to finishing 2-3 books a week. WHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS?! Where the eff do you find time to do that?!

This was a super short TOL, but when all you do is schoolwork & work, there isn’t many interesting life stories to share.

Have a happy Thursday!

Book recommendations? I’ll start making a list for once I finish school!

thinking out loud thursday #7

Happy Thursday!

For this week’s Thinking Out Loud Thursday I was going to do the traditional random thoughts and catching you all up on my life and such, but then I realized all I truly wanted to talk about were recent media happenings. Aka Jenna rambles about movies and TV for nearly 1000 words.

Okay, first things first. Mean Girls. Unless you actually live under a rock, you know it was the tenth anniversary of the movie release yesterday. It was almost annoying how present it was on social media yesterday. However, I think it deserves the recognition. I’ve seen it a million times, and I consider it one of the most quotable movies ever. Thank you, Tina Fey, for writing such a brilliant movie, and giving me the phrase “Boo, you whore” to say to my friends when they didn’t want to hang out with me.

Other movies… What are some recently released movies you are watching? I haven’t been to the theatres in over a month… Nothing is really piquing my interest right now. I kinda want to see Transcendence..mainly for Johnny Depp though. Oh, and Grand Budapest Hotel, but of course the theatres in my town aren’t playing it. Best movie you have watched lately?
I’ll tell you what I can’t wait for ….

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS ( Extended trailer. Pass the tissues, please. )

( Seth Rogan’s humor combined with Zac Efron’s abs? Fuck yes. )

( which will not be to everyone’s liking.. It’s a kind ofquirky romantic comedy that basically spoofs every other cheesy romantic comedy (like When Harry Met Sally, Along Came Polly, We’ve Got Mail, etc.) But how can you beat the combo of Amy and Paul? You just can’t. )

Last movie note.. I watched an interview with Judd Apatow the other day and discovered that the DVD version of Anchorman 2 comes with an entirely re-shot movie with ALL new jokes. Like, 762 new jokes or something crazy like that. Must. Watch. ASAP.

I think it’s nearly impossible for me to write a post and not include something funny that Jimmy Fallon has done. Like this Lip Sync Battle with Emma Stone. Honestly, I suggest you search all the previous Lip Sync Battles too, it’s totally worth it.

I actually think Paul Rudd’s is my fave though. It reminds me of when he played Mike on Friends, and that scene where Phoebe asked him to play air piano? Perfect. Just give me all the Jimmy Fallon, all the time.

It was also announced that Seth Meyers is hosting the Emmys !! I am PUMPED. I think he’s going to do a really great job. I’ve been watching Late Night quite a bit lately, it’s really gotten quite good. I feel as though in the beginning it was a bit awkward, but he’s finally found his groove.

I’m two weeks behind on Greys Anatomy. I’m not sure why I have no desire to catch up because the last episode I watched was really good, it’s actually been a good season in general. Maybe I’m just delaying the departure of Cristina? I can tell you right now that I’m not happy Burke is coming back though. I hated Burke so much and was glad to see him leave in earlier seasons. I’ll suffer through…. I’m also four episodes behind on Glee. Oops? Has it been good lately, those who watch?

I have such a love/hate relationship with this time of year when it comes to TV. Finale season means GREAT episodes. But it also means four months without new episodes. Scandal finale anyone? CRAY. I know it was like, three weeks ago, but my friend just watched it the other night and we had a deep discussion about it. And while I am not surprised about it, I am Super bummed about Harrison not coming back for season four though. I’ll miss your beautiful, beautiful face, Columbus Short.

Parks and Rec season finale was last week too. I have no words. Actually, not true. I have a lot of words. But, I’ll spare you the torture and just say I was NOT expecting that. It felt like a series finale to me, but I’ve read a billion articles and NBC has confirmed another season. But Mike Schur, the creator, has said that this next season is probably the last. I’m not gonna even discuss that right now. I will discuss the Michelle Obama appearance though. Leslie’s reaction is just so perfect. The manic laughter at the end gets me everytime.

” You’re from Chicago, SO YOU LIKE IT. “

The Mindy Project was super good this week. Season finale next week I believe, in which I hope Mindy and Danny finally smash their faces together again and just be happy. And by smash their faces together, I mean kiss and make up if that wasn’t clear…What other season finales have been good? I heard Parenthood was really good. I loove that show but it comes on when a couple other of my shows do, so I usually wait until the season is over and then catch up. Same with New Girl. I also started Game Of Thrones last night ( OMG SO GOOD ) so I think I’ll be set for the summer. Always open to suggestions though!

Last thing, I promise. THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE A FRIENDS REUNION. I’ve had multiple friends on Facebook post links to fake posters/ads/articles about a freaking reunion for months now. I never really believed there was going to be one, but I’ve always deep down had this little spark of hope. Then I read this article and I’m done dreaming about it. Hard to believe it’s been ten years since the finale!

If you actually made it through this post I applaud you. Thank you for reading my rambling! That’s what Thinking Out Loud Thursday is for though, right?!

What’s your favorite finale of a tv show (season or series)?

I think the Friends finale was a perfect ending to the show, but I still cry every single time I watch it. Also, remember that Grey’s season finale where Derek got shot? Yeah, that one was good.

thinking out loud thursday #6

I missed Thinking Out Loud Thursday last week and that made me sad, so here I am, back this week on my absolute favorite day to blog! Ready for some random ?

1. It’s cold outside. Like, -7 with the wind chill. I’m upset about it, and was supposed to go running this morning but I’m being a baby and waiting until later with the hopes that the wind will chill the fuck out and it will warm up a’s hoping?

2. This is a cool thing that is finally happening. Also, Tina & Amy are making another movie together. Beyond excited!

3. Ariel & I are planning on taking a trip to NYC ( hopefully!!) this fall. I can’t even think about it too much because I get really excited, but we are trying to decide when to go. Do we go in the fall, in October, so it’s still kind of warm but all the fall colors & pumpkin flavored wonderfulness is out? Or do we wait until the end of November-ish, when all the Christmas decorations are out?! HELP. Anyone who has been there have any suggestions?!

4. Does anyone watch The Mindy Project? If you don’t, you should. I’m going through a real Mindy Kaling obsession right now. I really want to be her best friend. Also, there are a lot of hot guys on The Mindy Project. Chris Messina is the dreamiest, right?

5. Speaking of Mindy Kaling, have you seen the video she did for Vogue? Hilarious. And her Jimmy Kimmel interview was pretty great too.

5. I feel like life is kind of going three thousand miles a minute and I’m only going about one thousand miles a minute. More on this tomorrow. If I have time to put the thoughts swirling in my mind into a coherent post. That’s a big if.

6. Macbook users – Air or Pro? My three year old Acer just isn’t cutting it anymore and I have wanted a Mac foreverrr, but holy $$$. I’m trying to justify the purchase in my head, because it really is something that I use every single day at both work and for school, but two thousand dollars on a piece of metal? Cray. So yeah, thoughts ?!

7. I hate how bad I have been at commenting on blogs lately. HATE. I’m reading, you beautiful people, I just…actually, I don’t really have any plausible excuse. I’ll try to be better, promise.

8. My best guy friend is in Florida right now and I’m trying really hard not to be bitter about it. I want sunshine too!

9. Scandal season finale is on tonight. I’m not ready. Nope.

10. I keep forgetting Easter is this weekend. That reminds me I have to get a Cadbury Creme egg Mcflurry before they take them away. Thank goodness for blogs, otherwise I’d have nowhere to write a reminder to myself to stuff myself with delicious ice cream. OH, and the self serve froyo place in my town is FINALLY opening up at the end of April. I’m beside myself with excitement, obvs.

11. I’m really digging evening runs. They remind me of summer, and how it is slowly but surely getting closer.

12. Two last videos to share. First up, I found this video of two older women flying for the first time and my heart melted. They are so adorable, and it made me extremely happy. It’s about 9 minutes of video, but if you want to feel happiness, watch it!

Second, this song. On repeat. It’s gonna Be Okay.

That was possibly the most random TOL ever. Also, kind of pictureless. I’m sorry, I have not been taking any photos whatsoever this week. My bad.

Is it Friday yet?

a marvelous food coma

Happy Monday!

Even though I am riding front seat in the struggle bus this morning the sun is shining, it is warm, and I may get to ride my ponies for the first time this year so I am one happy lady. Coffee helps tremendously. I’m going to do a Marvelous In My Monday post again!

Marvelous is… running 9k on Friday night. After the fact, that is. I’m actually planning a running related post for tomorrow, but thanks to daylight lasting longer than 5pm, evening runs have become a thing again so I can go running with Ariel after she gets off work.

Marvelous is… visiting my grandmother on Friday evening. Can I mention how much I love the fact that the first thing she wanted to talk about was the most recent episode of Scandal? I’m lucky enough to live just five minutes from my grandmother, but I am terrible at making the time to go visit. Once a week visits need to happen from now on! She’s the best. Maggie, her demon kitty, was surprisingly friendly on Friday.

( things that are not marvelous : cats. )

Marvelous is…rainy Saturdays spent cooking & watching movies with my best friends. A few of my friends came home from university for a weekend visit so we had a few drinks, cooked some good food , and watched some movies.

One evening in Vegas, Ariel & I stumbled upon the magical place known as Chipotle. We both had burrito bowls, and our lives were changed forever. That may sound a bit dramatic, but OH MY GOD, you guys. Everything I love piled in one bowl? Yes, please. I’ve been thinking of them since then and this weekend we finally made our own.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

We used this  recipe for the corn salsa. It’s a good one. I also baked the How Sweet Eats Amaretto Apple Crisp. Which was, by far, the best apple crisp I’ve ever had. I was in a food coma all night. It was blissful.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset One of the movies we watched was The Skeleton Key. I’m usually not a fan of anything even remotely scary but I was assured that the story behind the movie was good, so I agreed to watch it. It was really good, but yeah, I screamed a couple times and accidentally smacked my friend when I flailed my hands in fear. You risk your life when you watch anything scary with me.

Marvelous is… SUNSHINE! The sun finally came out on Sunday, and it was wonderful. Ariel & I went on a long walk and chatted about life. Like, real talk, what do you want to do for the rest of your life kinda chats. Sometimes they are necessary, ya know? I took my camera but haven’t gone through the photos yet, so I’ll share them later this week!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetMarvelous is… Anna Kendrick hosting SNL. I caught up on Saturday’s episode while writing this post and I think she did a pretty good job! I think the opening monologue was my favorite… I may be a musically biased Disney lover though.

Did you guys catch Louis C.K’s monologue last week? That one was fantastic as well

Marvelous is…Finally getting the JPEG versions of our photos with Jared & Jensen! Even though I look like a  hunched over old lady, I will forever have proof that I got to touch the muscled back of Jared Padalecki.

Alright, thanks to the aforementioned struggle bus ride this morning, I am already behind on my to do list. That’s all I’ve got!

What is your favorite dessert?

Chipotle : Yay or Nay?
