the 2015 golden globe awards

Happy Monday everyone!

If you’re like me and stayed up later than usual to watch the Golden Globes – I feel ya this morning. Treat yoself to an extra cup of coffee today because you deserve it. If you aren’t already aware, award season is my FAVE, and I LOVE to do recaps. I’m a bit sad I don’t have more time this year to write a recap, but I did my best in between commercial breaks!

Let’s started with my picks for best dressed, shall we?

Salma Hayek – the fabric of this dress is a bit odd, but I love the fit & color of it!

Emma Stone – I love this look SO MUCH! It’s perfect for her body, I love the giant bow & the top of her jumpsuit is sparkly and fantastic. Next to Emily Blunt, I think this might be my favorite look.

Viola Davis – I know some people say wearing red on the red carpet is boring & predictable but I have to disagree. I think Viola looks absolutely stunning, and girl’s got some ARMS.

Allison Williams – Allison always looks dainty and fabulous and this look is no different. Her hair is borderline though – I HATE the wet hair look (see : Maria Menounous last night) but the dress makes up for it. Another red dress that I really liked!

Diane Kruger – truth: I have no effing clue what Diane Kruger is from/acted in/why she’s at the Golden Globes..but I love me a sparkly silver dress. A+, lady who I don’t know, ya killed it.

Lorde – I love me a jumpsuit. I love the crop top & her necklace. This kind of feels like it belongs at a music awards show, not the Golden Globes, but I’m still madly in love with it.

Amy Adams – she kind of nails it every time. Simple, yet elegant and not boring.

Anna Faris – I love this dress! Anna Faris is just adorable, and I loooved how cute her & Chris Pratt looked on the red carpet together.

Emily Blunt – I’m not sure why her face looks funny in this photo but OMG this dress! I think this whole look might be my fave. The braid halo, the dress, everything! Love. It.

Lupita Nyong’o – Lupita is quite possibly the most gorgeous human on the planet. The purple complements her skin so well, its so beautiful!

‘Kate Hudson – If I had a body like that, I’d wear a dress like that too. Bravo, Kate. If ya got it, flaunt it.

Anna Kendrick – Beautiful dress. She’s so stunning. Simple and Classic.

Aaaand the hosts of the evening : Amy & Tina. I will admit I did not care for their red carpet looks (except for Tina’s hair & jewels!) so I was sooo glad when they walked out on stage in much, much better dresses. These ladies absolutely killed the opening monologue, as per usual.

A. freaking. men.

The theme of this year’s golden globes seemed to be North Korea. The bit in the opening monologue was good. The Meryl bit was easily the best bit, but it kinda went downhill from there.

I haven’t seen Big Eyes yet, but this was good.

Award shows are like my Olympics. Not just because I love the fashion, and the jokes, and the drunk celebrities, but because they open my eyes to so many great films & television shows. Transparent was a big winner last night, as was Boyhood & Birdman. The Affair, Still Alice, The Grand Budapest Hotel, A Most Violent Year, Selma,  House of Cards (which has been on my must watch list for a year now), the list goes on. It always takes me awhile to fall asleep after watching because I’m so inspired by these wonderfully creative people who create amazing things. Hollywood is weird and awful in a lot of ways, but it does expose the world to talented people and real wonderful things.

/end weird rant. It’s 1 am and I am exhuasted, so please forgive me.

Moving on….

George Clooney gave a very nice speech while accepting some Lifetime Achievement award. He said very nice things about his wife that made my simultaneously “awh” and throw up in my mouth a little bit. I don’t know whose luckier: George Clooney because he is married to Amal, or Amal because she is married to George Clooney. Or maybe it’s Julianna Marguiles, because George Clooney called her “Jules”. Moral of the story: I’d still tap George Clooney.

sidenote: Did y’all catch their interview with E!’s Guilianna Ranic when she tried to get them to do tequila shots? Have you ever seen a more awkward interview in your life?! The side eye shade that Amal was throwing Gulianna was HILARIOUS.

Then Tina Fey came out in a rumpled tuxedo and everything was awesome. Would it be weird if my life goal was to succesfully pull off jumpsuit/lady tux? I just love them.

I’m rooting for Bill Hader & Kristen Wiig to host next year. They did a great job presenting, quite possibly the one presenters who weren’t awkward or inappropriate ( looking at YOU, JEREMY RENNER).

Overall it was  great show, with a LOT of diversity amongst the winners this year, which is always great to see. Now I know how many movies I have to watch before the Oscars.

Did you watch the Globes? Who was your pick for best dressed?!

thinking out loud thursday #16

Happy Thursday!

I’m going to switch over and do a Thinking Out Loud Thursday post today instead of Blogtober! Blogtober’s prompt was favorite Halloween costume, and I didn’t have any time to go through my old photos of Halloween costumes from when I was a kid, so I’m going to join Amanda today and ramble about a whole bunch of nonsense.

1. I totally scored reserved tickets to see a taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers when I am in New York in November!! We tried to get Jimmy Fallon tickets but, as expected, they sold out within the 30seconds it took us to get to the website. Sad face. However, I’m still excited to see a taping of Late Night, because as you all know, I’ve got a huge crush on Seth Meyers. Just a little over a month left until our trip!!!

photo 3 (1)

2. Has everyone seen Gone Girl yet? If you haven’t, you should! I read the book a few months back and adored it, so I had high hopes for the movie and I was not disappointed! I found it stayed pretty true to the book, and it definitely gave me the suspensful, creepy feeling I had when I read the book! The soundtrack was a key player in that, and Rosamund Pike was delightfully creepy. That bedroom scene?! Even though I knew it was coming, it totally caught be by surprise. Speaking of movies, you should also go see This Is Where I Leave You!! The casting is perfect, and the acting is fantastic. I haven’t read the book but this movie really made me feel all the feelings, if you know what I mean. I almost went to see it twice, but the night I went to see it the second time, the projector wasn’t working so I ended up seeing Gone Girl instead. So yes, go see it!

3. As for TV, I watched a couple new pilots over the weekend that I really enjoyed, Bad Judge (with Kate Walsh) and A to Z (with people I’ve never heard of). I wasn’t expecting to like A to Z, but it really surprised me. I’m not usually one for really cutesy TV shows, but this is quirky yet cute, and drew me in. I’m not sure how long it will last, but I’ll keep watching! Bad Judge was pretty funny, I’m interested to see where it goes. I love Kate Walsh, she plays the character really well. Any pilots you guys have watched and recommend? Besides How To Get Away With Murder of course! I’m really loving that show, Shonda really can do no wrong.Except for the special effects on Grey’s this year…they need to fix that shit ASAP.  This is a really (albeit a bit long) interview with Shonda that I found interesting. I love that she really, truly, takes shit from no one, yet is respectful at the same time.  This is another article I read earlier this week that I loved, which examines how Alicia Florrick’s (Good Wife, duhhh) campaign is going to make for an interesting season. Last week’s episode was particularly good writing & editing. I’m such a nerd when it comes to that kind of thing!

4. Dragging myself away from movies and TV for a second…School, Work, school, sleep is pretty much my everyday routine. I’m forcing myself to take a slower week next week, including taking next Friday off because otherwise I’m gonna run myself straight into the ground! I’ve noticed that I’ve felt overwhelmed for about a month now, so something needs to change. I love being busy, but making time for yourself is just as important. It’s Thanksgiving this weekend over here in Canada land so I’m looking forward to a Friendsgiving, and hopefully just chilling the eff out for a bit. If this scene from last Friday repeated itself, I wouldn’t be mad!

Truth: The time of year in which I get to watch Hocus Pocus is the BEST. Mildly obsessed with that movie.

5. And, I have to keep this post on the shorter side because I am running out of time this morning! I chose an extra 20minutes of sleep instead of writing a long blog post, sue me!

What was the last movie you saw?

thinking out loud thursday #15

Hi!! Happy Thursday!

Can we take a second to acknowledge how I’ve been absolutely nailing the whole blogging thing this week?! 4 posts in a row baby. Give me an award or something! K thanks.

It seems like its been forever since I’ve done a Thinking Out Loud Thursday, and at work today I realized how much shit I want to ramble about today. Thanks again to Amanda for hosting! Ready for randomness?!

1. First off, Scandal is on tonight, as I discussed yesterday. I’m already dreaming of this evening, glass of Bailey’s in hand, anxiously awaiting for Olivia Pope to come back into my life. SNL Promos were also released yesterday and I realized how freaking excited I am for Chris Pratt to host. I love that man.

I also really love Kate McKinnon.

That reminds me, I had a client today who asked me what I was going to be doing in New York, and I briefly mentioned that I would love to get tickets to a taping of Jimmy Fallon and he said he didn’t like Jimmy Fallon. It took every ounce of self control not to freak out. WHO DOESN’T LIKE JIMMY FALLON?! He’s had so many good videos lately!

sidenote: uhmmm how awesome was Barbra Streisand last week?! Maybe that makes me 60 years old or something for saying I love Barbra Streisand but damn she was great.

Basically everything Jimmy does is hilarious and you should watch the show every single day.

/End Rant

2. Despite my absolutely insane schedule right now, I’ve made the time to go for quite a few gallops in the field. Both solo and with Ariel. There’s nothing like coming home from a long day and saddling up and just chilling out for a bit. No better way to clear my head.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset photo 4 (24) photo 2 (40) photo 1 (44)

3. My brother turned 17 last Wednesday. SEVENTEEN.  We are five years, two days apart, and always been super close. I’m a lucky girl to have a brother like him.

photo 1 (43)

4. My Aunt got me this Grumpy Cat mug for my birthday and it cracked me up. She is literally a crazy cat lady, and I love her for it. Ignore the fact I desperately need a mani & my arm looks like a man’s arm.

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

5. Speaking of Grumpy Cat, did you see that Aubrey Plaza is going to be the voice of Grumpy Cat in a Lifetime movie?! I’m not sure why a Grumpy Cat movie is necessary, but I cannot think of a more perfect person to voice it.

photo 5 (1)

6. I’m doing the tour de New France this weekend! I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m doing a 20km mountain bike race with Ariel & her paramedic friends this coming Saturday. While Ariel and I have been training all summer, we did a practice trail ride as a group last Friday morning. Holy. Hell. Ariel and I have mostly been doing road training, with a few dirt roads thrown in there. However, the ride last Friday was INSANE terrain. I felt like I was literally rock climbing with my bike at times. It was a really beautiful ride though, a 12 km out and back trail, with the turn around point at a beautiful lake. I got SO muddy it was ridiculous! The picture doesn’t even do it justice. I can’t wait to see what kind of views New France will bring on Saturday, even if I am likely going to die.

.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset photo 4 (25)

7. We have literally only had one day of rain for the entire month of September. There have been a couple rainy nights, so we aren’t in a drought or anything, but the weather has just been beyond phenomenal. There is nothing better than waking up to sunshine every single day (even if I’m not loving the chillier weather), and beautiful sunsets every night. I. Love. Fall.

photo 5 (20)

8. Speaking of fall, I laughed waaaay too hard at both of these.

photo 2 (2) photo 2 (1)

9. I went running the other day for the first time in about a month. I had forgotten how much running hurts. I think I’ll get back into a regular running routine after this weekend. I have been biking a lot to try and prepare for New France, so running had fallen to the wayside. I’m still planning on running a half marathon at some point, but at this point I think I will end up waiting until next spring. I really, really wish I had a training buddy!

10. Ariel and I are planning on jumping headfirst into fall this weekend with a viewing of Hocus Pocus, pumpkin painting/carving and some sort of pumpkin recipe. I’m ready! We are also planning to go see This Is Where I Leave You this weekend, has anyone seen it? The cast is awesome, and it looks really good!

And that’s all I have to ramble about! There’s a 99% chance I won’t be posting tomorrow, so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

let’s talk about TV

September is my favorite month of the year for several reasons. The beginning of fall, my birthday, and the return of my favorite TV shows. If you’re new around here, you should know that I. Love. TV. I love talking about TV, and I am always in the midst of watching a million TV shows at the same time. Since this week is essentially the week that all the good TV comes back, I thought I’d do a post about all the shows I’m looking forward to!

Note: there ARE spoilers in this post. If you haven’t watched the shows, don’t read! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Last week a couple shows started back early, namely The Mindy Project and The Good Wife.

The Mindy Project

Where we left off : Mindy and Danny finally got their shit together and realized they were meant to be together. The Season 2 finale was based off of all kinds of romantic comedies mushed together and it led to a hilarious and epic makeout on the top of the Empire State building.

What happened in the premiere: The premiere centered mainly around Mindy & Danny, as to be expected. It was a fantastic start to a new season, and while I really hope they keep Mindy & Danny together, everyone knows it’s more dramatic when the TV couple you want to be together isn’t together. However, the last three or so minutes of the episode were BY FAR the best part …

Mindy Kaling is the luckiest woman in TV.

Now, The Good Wife …

Where we left off : Diane offered to leave Lockhart Gardner and join Alicia & Carey’s firm. Eli suggested Alicia run for states attorney. Peter is sleeping with his ginger intern. Will Gardner is still dead. Alicia & Carey are fighting. Basically, the shit completely hit the fan.

What happened in the premiere : The premiere caught me completely off guard. The whole Carey in jail for Lamone Bishop’s heroin thing was definitely not where I expected it to go. It was a dramatic and suspenseful episode. I was kind of hoping Finn & Alicia would get together.. but it doesn’t look like that’s happening. Surprise Surprise, the voters want Alicia to be states attorney. I have no idea where they are going to go with that, which I imagine is exactly what the writers want.

I still miss Will Gardner, even if I completely understand why they killed him off & appreciate the new life it gave the show. (pun intended)

I really wanted to catch The Mysteries of Laura last week, but I missed it.

I plan on catching up sometime this week. I mean, come one, it’s Debra Messing! Who didn’t love Will & Grace?! The answer is no one.

That pretty much covers everything that happened last week.. Now, this week is when all the queen of television, Shonda Rimes’ , shows come back on. Praise. Baby. Jesus. She’s basically taken over ABC, let’s be real. For God’s sake, they threw a huge party in honor of the #TGIT hashtag on Twitter for Shonda’s show. TGIT stands for Thank God It’s Thursday, duh.

Grey’s Anatomy

Where we left off: Meredith apparently has a half sister. Derek & Meredith are on the rocks. CRISTINA LEFT. Callie and Arizona are having another baby (right?) And that’s honestly all I remember..I haven’t had the time to re-watch the Grey’s finale like I did the other shows.

What I’m expecting : Shonda has said in multiple interviews that this season will be Meredith centered, with lots of flashbacks. I LOVE this. I miss the earlier seasons of Greys. I’m hoping they have flashbacks with her mom, even though she’s an awful character, storylines involving her are always good. I think it’s going to take a few episodes to see if the show has the same dynamic sans Cristina. Goddamnit Sandra Oh, why did you have to leave?!

Where we left off : Uhm, I highly recommend re-watching last season’s finale before the new episode on Thursday. So. Much. Shit. Happened. Jerry Jr. died, thanks to Papa Pope. Mama Pope is in the hole (thanks to Papa Pope). Papa Pope is head of B613 once again. Fitz knows Jerry Sr. raped Mellie. Fitz can’t leave Mellie now. Olivia left Pope & Associates and is on a plane to fuck knows where with Jake. Harrison is dead. Fitz won the presidency and has 4 more years.

What I’m expecting : Honest to God, I have NO clue. I refuse to watch any promos, as promos merely give me anxiety. I love how unpredictable this show is. The only thing I expect is that Olivia won’t be in “paradise”, wherever that may be, for very long. I really want Olivia and Jake to be together, I’m kind of tired of the whole Fitz & Liv thing to be quite honest, but I know that is a core focus of the show. All I hope is that we continue to get lots of Mellie, because she has become one of my absolute favorite characters.

How To Get Away With Murder

I’m going to  DVR this, as it is coming on past my bedtime, but I am super excited for this. Viola Davis is amazing, as we found out from The Help, and it is a very interesting concept for a show. To be honest I’ve never disliked a show Shonda has written, but hopefully it fares better than Off The Map did ( does anyone remember that show?! It died waaaay too soon.)

Another alumni of Shonda, Kate Walsh is going to be starring in Bad Judge , which is another pilot I am super excited to watch.

And that’s it! Parks & Recreation doesn’t premiere until January, so I left my favorite show off this list. I’m currently in the middle of catching up on both Parenthood and New Girl on Netflix, as I didn’t have time to watch them in real time last year! I’m almost done Parenthood, so I’m hoping to be able to watch that show in real time this season, especially since it’ll be the last year of the show! I’m patiently waiting for new episodes of Suits to be added to Netflix. I also started watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix! I had never seen it before, and i’m so hooked. I’m only on season one, so it’ll take me awhile but I really love it. And yes, I know I am super late to that party!

Alright, talk to me! What shows are you most excited for? What shows should I be watching? Feel free to discuss to your hearts content. Like I said, i’ll talk about TV all damn day!

recap : the 2014 emmy awards

Happy Tuesday!

Most of you probably know that The Emmy’s were on last night. I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it a million times more: I. freaking. love. award. shows. The Golden Globes are my favorite, but the Emmy’s run a close second because they are all about television, and God knows I love television. Award shows always make me realize how many shows I need to be watching. However, let’s start with my picks for best dressed shall we?

1. Julia Roberts

2. Sarah Hyland

3. Allison Williams

4.  Julie Bowen

 5. Amy Poehler – I may be biased but this was my absolute favorite look. Obsessed with the hair.

 6. Lizzy Caplan

I was extremely disappointed by Kerry Washington’s choice of dress. She usually kills it on the red carpet, but I’m not digging this look at all.

Also, Lena Dunham and Sarah Paulson made me cringe.

I really liked Seth Meyers as a host. It wasn’t the most exciting Emmy’s I have ever seen, but it definitely wasn’t the worst. I thought the opening monologue was pretty strong, and true to the type of comedian Seth is. I loved the way he introduced Amy as the first presenter.

And this, just yes.

I actually filled out an Emmy ballot this year with my predictions, and I didn’t do half bad. I accurately predicted Breaking Bad sweeping the Drama category (deservedly). I was thrilled with Julianna Marguiles’ win, Anna Gunn’s win, and Bryan Cranston’s beautiful speech.

Also, when he kissed Julia Louis-Dreyfus when she won? Hilarious

The Billy on the Street video killed me. SO hilarious.

Other highlights include Gwen Stefani pulling a John Travolta and fucking up the pronunciation of Colbert Report, a slightly weird but rather funny performance by Weird Al, way too many “alright, alright, alright” jokes, and an extremely touching Robin Williams tribute by Billy Crystal. It was a really, really touching and beautiful tribute to a wonderful man.

And that’s it! I usually do much longer recaps but I am super short on time this week! I also haven’t responded to comments from last week yet, but I promise I will get to it! This week is craziness!

Did you watch the Emmys? What were your favorite moments? Your choice for best dressed?

thinking out loud thursday #10

Ahh, here we are once again, 11pm on a Wednesday night; the absolute perfect time for me to ramble on about random things. Thank baby Jesus for Thinking Out Loud Thursday is all I can say.

Holy. Crap. I went to see the late show of TFIOS on Tuesday evening. Perhaps a 9:35pm showing wasn’t the best idea after what was the longest day in the world, but I’m SO glad I saw it. I was beyond pleased with the movie. I can’t even imagine a better adaptation of the book! The casting was perfect, every performance was heart wrenching and believable. I don’t particularly like Shailene Woodley, as we differ in opinion on many things ( and she eats clay?!) but she is a damn good actress. So yes, if you haven’t seen this yet, go see it!

And this just made me laugh, I can’t help it!

2. My DVR is so full of Tonight Show & Late Night episodes that it’s ridiculous. However, I did happen to watch this while working out the other day and it cracked me up so much I had to stop because I couldn’t breathe.

And can we take a moment to appreciate how cute his People magazine cover is?!! Adorbs.
3. On Wednesday I went for my longest run since my race. I made it a full 8k without dying! As I have previously mentioned, I’ve felt SO off lately when I’m running, so I was SO happy yesterday. I have a feeling that all my school related stress has something to do with my feeling mentally off during my runs, but yesterday I felt great. My next 10k is July 19th. Technically I haven’t registered yet, but I’m now 98% I’m going to. I put off registration for a long time because my running had been so shitty.

4. Evening walks with my puppy are keeping me sane. How do people live without dogs, honestly? I cannot even fathom it.

5. This is kind of old news now, but Amy Poehler’s book is now available for pre order!! I am SO excited, obviously.

6. I haven’t read a book for pleasure since Gone Girl in March ( ps Carrie: I’m gonna send it back to you, I SWEAR) I started one other one, but haven’t had the time/energy/desire to. I’m started to get real excited for reading for pleasure once school is done. I feel so left out in blogland, it seems like people are able to finishing 2-3 books a week. WHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS?! Where the eff do you find time to do that?!

This was a super short TOL, but when all you do is schoolwork & work, there isn’t many interesting life stories to share.

Have a happy Thursday!

Book recommendations? I’ll start making a list for once I finish school!

Met Gala 2014 Fashion

Happy Wednesday!
As you all probably know, the Met Ball was held on Monday evening. Now, in all honesty, I know absolutely nothing whatsoever about fashion. Heck, I didn’t even know what the point of the Met Ball was until I googled it. ( Turns out it is a yearly ball benefiting the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art) . I’m not someone who reads (or understands the point of most parts of) Vogue. I just enjoy looking at pretty people in pretty dresses & pretty tuxedos. So here are some of my opinions!

Ladies Who Killed It :

Taylor Swift : T Swizzle has been killing it this year, in my opinion. I love everything about this look. Really loving her shorter hair, it’s so elegant and grown up!

Sarah Jessica Parker: Yes. Just yes. I’m such a big SJP fan, and I love that she takes risks ( like the huge mohawk headband from last year’s MetBall!!). It think this is classy, elegant and perfect for the MetBall. Both her dress and her hair from behind are gorgeous as well.

Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen : These ladies are a prime example of why I will never understand fashion. These dresses are not something I would ever personally wear, but I really think that they suit them and the event? Also, what the eff are the Olsen twins up to these days anyway? It seems to me they just randomly appear every few years to reassure us they haven’t died or something.

Lena Dunham: I love Lena, but she has a tendency to choose questionable red carpet looks. I think she nailed this one though. It’s a cute dress, cute shoes, and her makeup is on point!

Kendall Jenner : Girl is looking goooood. Love how this dress gives her curves, and her hairstyle makes her look older and like a true model.

Anna Kendrick: Yes! Love the updo and winged eyeliner. Dress is perfect!

Emmy Rossum :  I LOVE the print of this dress so freaking much. Prints can be so iffy, and this is perfect.

Emma Stone : I love the crazy colors of this dress! And I really like the view of her braid from the side, it looks almost exactly like Elsa from Frozen’s hair after she let it go ( <– i made a joke! ) . I’m a fan of messy braids, and wish I could do them myself!

The Ehhhhh…

Anne Hathaway : Not feeling anything about this look. Front slit? No. And the shoes? Is it just me or do they look a bit tacky? To me, it takes a really perfect dress to pull off an all red ensemble on a red carpet.

Kristen Wiig : Girl, I love you, but WHAT IS YOUR HAIR. Like, did you get caught in a downpour? And not digging the dress either.

Kristen Stewart : I’m not even gonna touch this one.

Shailene Woodley : Or this one.

Nicole Richie:  This dress is bizarre… but to be honest I love her hair. Not the style, but the color.  I’m a big fan of pastel hair right now and I SO wish I could pull it off.

Couples :

David & Victoria Beckham : Ohhh I love me some David Beckham. Yes, please. I love a man in a white tux, honestly. And he pulls it off beautifully. Victoria’s look I could take it or leave it. I do like her accessories though, especially those earrings!

Blake Lively & Ryan Renolds: This couple is so beautiful it is not even fair. Perfect. I have no other words.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen: Gisele looks smoking hot. Love the simple hair, and the dress fits her body perfectly! I wish Tom hadn’t gone for velvet. I just can’t support that trend. Not that my opinion matters in any way whatsoever!

Claire Danes & Hugh Dancy: Freaking adorable couple right here. They look so happy, and I love Claire’s simple yet elegant look. Love love.

Todd Spiewak and Jim Parsons: I mean, come on. Look how adorable! I love how Jim really stuck with the theme with his tux. And his partner wearing white? Perfect.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka: I CAN’T. I’m not sure what to say. But, no.

Christine Teigen and John Legend: I’m not 100% sure I love Chrissy’s dress, but I always think these two look great together.

Beyonce & Jay-Z: Jay looks flyyy! I don’t think I am capable of criticizing Bey, so I’m just not going to comment at all?

And finally, the absolutely no effing way :

Erykah Badu : It’s like the Pharell hat is a contagious disease. An awful, terrible, contagious disease.

Who are your favorites from the Met Gala?

thinking out loud thursday #7

Happy Thursday!

For this week’s Thinking Out Loud Thursday I was going to do the traditional random thoughts and catching you all up on my life and such, but then I realized all I truly wanted to talk about were recent media happenings. Aka Jenna rambles about movies and TV for nearly 1000 words.

Okay, first things first. Mean Girls. Unless you actually live under a rock, you know it was the tenth anniversary of the movie release yesterday. It was almost annoying how present it was on social media yesterday. However, I think it deserves the recognition. I’ve seen it a million times, and I consider it one of the most quotable movies ever. Thank you, Tina Fey, for writing such a brilliant movie, and giving me the phrase “Boo, you whore” to say to my friends when they didn’t want to hang out with me.

Other movies… What are some recently released movies you are watching? I haven’t been to the theatres in over a month… Nothing is really piquing my interest right now. I kinda want to see Transcendence..mainly for Johnny Depp though. Oh, and Grand Budapest Hotel, but of course the theatres in my town aren’t playing it. Best movie you have watched lately?
I’ll tell you what I can’t wait for ….

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS ( Extended trailer. Pass the tissues, please. )

( Seth Rogan’s humor combined with Zac Efron’s abs? Fuck yes. )

( which will not be to everyone’s liking.. It’s a kind ofquirky romantic comedy that basically spoofs every other cheesy romantic comedy (like When Harry Met Sally, Along Came Polly, We’ve Got Mail, etc.) But how can you beat the combo of Amy and Paul? You just can’t. )

Last movie note.. I watched an interview with Judd Apatow the other day and discovered that the DVD version of Anchorman 2 comes with an entirely re-shot movie with ALL new jokes. Like, 762 new jokes or something crazy like that. Must. Watch. ASAP.

I think it’s nearly impossible for me to write a post and not include something funny that Jimmy Fallon has done. Like this Lip Sync Battle with Emma Stone. Honestly, I suggest you search all the previous Lip Sync Battles too, it’s totally worth it.

I actually think Paul Rudd’s is my fave though. It reminds me of when he played Mike on Friends, and that scene where Phoebe asked him to play air piano? Perfect. Just give me all the Jimmy Fallon, all the time.

It was also announced that Seth Meyers is hosting the Emmys !! I am PUMPED. I think he’s going to do a really great job. I’ve been watching Late Night quite a bit lately, it’s really gotten quite good. I feel as though in the beginning it was a bit awkward, but he’s finally found his groove.

I’m two weeks behind on Greys Anatomy. I’m not sure why I have no desire to catch up because the last episode I watched was really good, it’s actually been a good season in general. Maybe I’m just delaying the departure of Cristina? I can tell you right now that I’m not happy Burke is coming back though. I hated Burke so much and was glad to see him leave in earlier seasons. I’ll suffer through…. I’m also four episodes behind on Glee. Oops? Has it been good lately, those who watch?

I have such a love/hate relationship with this time of year when it comes to TV. Finale season means GREAT episodes. But it also means four months without new episodes. Scandal finale anyone? CRAY. I know it was like, three weeks ago, but my friend just watched it the other night and we had a deep discussion about it. And while I am not surprised about it, I am Super bummed about Harrison not coming back for season four though. I’ll miss your beautiful, beautiful face, Columbus Short.

Parks and Rec season finale was last week too. I have no words. Actually, not true. I have a lot of words. But, I’ll spare you the torture and just say I was NOT expecting that. It felt like a series finale to me, but I’ve read a billion articles and NBC has confirmed another season. But Mike Schur, the creator, has said that this next season is probably the last. I’m not gonna even discuss that right now. I will discuss the Michelle Obama appearance though. Leslie’s reaction is just so perfect. The manic laughter at the end gets me everytime.

” You’re from Chicago, SO YOU LIKE IT. “

The Mindy Project was super good this week. Season finale next week I believe, in which I hope Mindy and Danny finally smash their faces together again and just be happy. And by smash their faces together, I mean kiss and make up if that wasn’t clear…What other season finales have been good? I heard Parenthood was really good. I loove that show but it comes on when a couple other of my shows do, so I usually wait until the season is over and then catch up. Same with New Girl. I also started Game Of Thrones last night ( OMG SO GOOD ) so I think I’ll be set for the summer. Always open to suggestions though!

Last thing, I promise. THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE A FRIENDS REUNION. I’ve had multiple friends on Facebook post links to fake posters/ads/articles about a freaking reunion for months now. I never really believed there was going to be one, but I’ve always deep down had this little spark of hope. Then I read this article and I’m done dreaming about it. Hard to believe it’s been ten years since the finale!

If you actually made it through this post I applaud you. Thank you for reading my rambling! That’s what Thinking Out Loud Thursday is for though, right?!

What’s your favorite finale of a tv show (season or series)?

I think the Friends finale was a perfect ending to the show, but I still cry every single time I watch it. Also, remember that Grey’s season finale where Derek got shot? Yeah, that one was good.

a unnecessarily lengthy recap of the 2014 golden globes

Happy Monday!

Did you catch the Golden Globes last night?!

If not, I got ya covered because I’m about to spend way too much time talking about my favorite dresses, moments, and jokes from last night’s show. If you did watch it, I bet you are riding the struggle bus with me this morning from staying up too late watching the show. Either way, grab some coffee and catch up with me!

First things first, let’s talk fashion. I’m not one for ” Worst Dressed Lists”, who needs the extra negativity? Wear what you want! Also, i’m no fashion expert, not even close. I don’t follow fashion trends, or shows, or read Vogue. Therefore, I’m going to post my favorites, which essentially means I’m going to choose my favorite actors, who could be wearing burlap sacks and I would still say they look amazing.

1. Olivia Wilde – I love this dress! I think she looks like a mermaid, in the best way. She makes pregnancy look glamorous, which isn’t easy. I think this might be my favorite look of the night. Hair, makeup, jewelery, dress, I love everything.

2. I like glittery things. A lot. I love this dress because I can imagine myself wearing a shorter version of it to a fancy NYE party or something like that . I also love her earrings. SO pretty!

3. Emilia Clark – Again, I like glittery things. I’m not sure what it is about this dress, but I love it. Also, I like the simple waves in her hair, and simple bracelets.

4. Lupita Nyong’o – Okay. This woman is SO STUNNING it is actually overwhelming. I’ve also admired women who can pull off super short hair. She’s just so simply beautiful, she doesn’t need the distractions of excessive jewellery, flashy dress, or long hair. Second favorite look of the night.

5. Tina Fey & Amy Poehler – Obviously, the hosts. I’ve seen a lot of negative comments about Tina’s dress, but I love it. I love them both. I hope I look like them in my 40s, after having multiple children, am I right? I loved all three dress changes these ladies had throughout the night. I think my favorite dresses were these :

They look like Christmas, in the best way possible.

6. Kate Beckinsale – Gorgeous. I especially love her hair and earrings! Glittery. Can you see a trend here? Oops.

7. Kaley Cuoco – LOVE this. I find flowers on a dress can be kind of iffy, but I love this. My friend who I was texting throughout the entire show said she looked like she rolled in mud, but I respectfully disagree.

8. Kerry Washington – aka the cutest pregnant woman alive. I could not get over her baby bump! The dress is ehhh, but Kerry always looks stunning, and was so lovely in her red carpet interviews, I had to include her here.

9. Rashida Jones – Okay, so I know she literally has palm trees on her dress…but I like it? Rashida is another one of those naturally beautiful people, and I think one of the very few people who could ever dream of pulling off this dress. I also like her top knot.

10. Jennifer Lawrence – I only included a photo of her top half, because I SO wanted to love this dress, but I just couldn’t get 100% on board with the bottom. But her makeup, hair and earrings?! Amazing.

I didn’t include any men because I honestly think all tuxedos look the same. But my favorite men from last night were Chris Pine, Bradley Cooper, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, and Chris Pratt.

Alright, moving on to the actual ceremony. Specifically, the opening monologue.

I was kind of worried this year’s monologue wouldn’t live up to the hilariously genius monologue of last year :

I was worrying for nothing, because those ladies killed it. Seriously. Proof?

My personal favorites include the camera cutting to JLaw as Amy Poehler, Julia Louis-Dreyfus smoking an E-Cigarette with the film side of the room,Tam Honks (despite the fact Tom Hanks was seemingly unamused), and the George Clooney/ Gravity joke.

In last year’s show, I found that besides the opening monologue, Amy and Tina were barely onstage at all. I was super happy this year, as they introduced more presenters and did a couple bits. The best bit was by far the Randy Fey bit.

They also introduced Seth Meyers & Julie Bowen as presenters, among others. My personal fave? Introducing Leo :

Speaking of presenters, let’s take a minute to appreciate Emma Thompson. I have recently discovered how truly amazing Emma Thompson is, and she further proved how amazing she is last night.

She walks out on stage, martini and Louboutins in hand. She was sassy, and wonderful. And she then proceeded to throw her Louboutins, after explaining how the red soles were her blood. Queen.

Another wonderful moment was Seth Meyers presenting Andy Samberg with his best actor in a comedy series award :

Jennifer Lawrence won the first award of the night, and was hilariously adorable as usual. She was so nervous and shaky, you would’ve thought she was being held at gunpoint and forced to accept the award. Breaking Bad (deservedly) swept the drama category. Brooklyn 99 surprised everyone and beat Girls and Modern Family (finally) for best comedy. Amy Adams beat Meryl Streep for best actress. LEO DICAPRIO FINALLY WON A DAMN AWARD.  12 Years A Slave won best drama, and Matthew McConaughy somehow pulled off a best actor award. These are the ones that stand out most strongly in my mind, because after awhile everything all blurs together.

However, my absolute favorite moment of the night was Amy Poehler finally taking home the Best Actress in a Comedy award. Girl has been nominated 5 years in a row and never won, until last night. She gave a beautiful speech, and was obviously completely surprised, humbled, and overwhelmed by the award. Oh yeah, she also made out with Bono.

And then Tina Fey burned Taylor Swift again, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus ate a hotdog, like a lady.

And that, my friends, is my lengthy recap of the 2014 Golden Globes. I just spent WAY more time than I probably should have putting together this post, but it was SO FUN. God, I love award show season.  I’m going to leave you with Jennifer Lawrence, sneaking up on Taylor Swift, just for kicks.

Did you watch the awards? What were your favorite parts? Dresses? TELL ME ABOUT IT!
