I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and lots of good food. I’ll be back next week, but for now I leave you with my so called “resolutions” for 2015. I prefer to think of them as little reminders to myself.

Hey guys! First off, thank you for your sweet comments on my last post. They mean the world to me! I’ve seen this questionnaire thing around blogland for awhile now, and I thought it would be a good way to catch y’all up on whats happening over here before I peace out for another week. Maybe someday I’ll get back to regular blogging. But for now..

MAKING : So. Many. Lists. I’ve got two days until I fly to NYC which means my entire life revolves around finishing the shit on all my lists.
COOKING : All the kale, eggs, and salsa. I refuse to buy groceries before I travel, thus meaning I’m getting done to the bare essentials here.
DRINKING : Vanilla Americano from my faaaave local cafe. There are 6 baristas that work there and they all know my coffee order. #predictable
READING : Yes, Please. Obviously. It’s damn good you guys. I’m actually planning on doing a post on the last few books I’ve read. Eventually.
WANTING : to sleep forever. Im so, so excited for NYC but I know I’m going to be hella sleep deprived. People say “you can sleep when you’re dead” but I’m a firm believer in sleeping as much as possible while I’m alive. #partyanimal
LOOKING : For a way to add three more hours to each day. Think of all the shit you could get done in those three hours!
PLAYING : 30 Rock on Netflix. Last year I got to season 5 and then lost US Netflix for awhile so I decided I might as well start from the beginning again cause WHY NOT?
WASTING : Time. I should be packing. Oops.
WISHING : I could sleep in tomorrow.
ENJOYING : being on vacation. I haven’t taken more than 4 days off since March, so yes, I think a vacation was due.
WAITING : FOR WEDNESDAY TO COME. Tired of hearing me talk about NYC yet? Sorry not sorry.
LIKING : 1989. Still on repeat.
WONDERING : if it will snow while we are in NYC. Praying to sweet baby Jesus it doesn’t. The thing that scares me most about flying is having my flight cancelled and being stranded.
LOVING : Yes, Please. Surprise parties. Morning walks. Evening rides on my pony.
HOPING : Ariel and I have seats together on the plane.
MARVELLING : THAT IM GOING TO NYC IN TWO DAYS.
NEEDING : a physics tutor. For realz.
SMELLING : the pumpkin pie candle I have burning. I’m not over the pumpkin yet.
WEARING : beanies, ankle boots & my leather jacket. I’m so obsessed with my jacket. I also really love beanies.
FOLLOWING : Matt Bellassai on Twitter. He is HILARIOUS.
NOTICING : how so many of my fave bloggers have placed out. I MISS READING ABOUT YOUR LIVES, PEOPLE.
KNOWING : I have so much schoolwork to do. Halp.
THINKING : this has taken waaaay longer than I anticipated. I need to sleep. ( it’s 10:08pm)
FEELING : my back hurts from laying weirdly on my bed while typing this on my iPad. I hate writing blog posts on my iPad but I needed my computer to watch 30 Rock. #firstworldproblems
BOOKMARKING : I’m really into fashion bloggers all of a sudden. It’s weird.
OPENING : too many tabs. I got to a point where my iPad wouldn’t let me open any more. I have problems.
GIGGLING : Yes, Please. 30 Rock. All the cute animal vines that Ariel sends me on a daily basis. This is why she is my best friend.

And that’s it! I doubt I’ll be back here before I leave for NYC, and I definitely won’t be here while I’m in New York, so I’ll see you guys next week? I’ll be posting on Instagram and Twitter so feel free to follow me there my friends ūüôā

thinking out loud thursday #16

Happy Thursday!

I’m going to switch over and do a Thinking Out Loud Thursday post today instead of Blogtober! Blogtober’s prompt was favorite Halloween costume, and I didn’t have any time to go through my old photos of Halloween costumes from when I was a kid, so I’m going to join Amanda today and ramble about a whole bunch of nonsense.

1. I totally scored reserved tickets to see a taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers when I am in New York in November!! We tried to get Jimmy Fallon tickets but, as expected, they sold out within the 30seconds it took us to get to the website. Sad face. However, I’m still excited to see a taping of Late Night, because as you all know, I’ve got a huge crush on Seth Meyers. Just a little over a month left until our trip!!!

photo 3 (1)

2. Has everyone seen Gone Girl yet? If you haven’t, you should! I read the book a few months back and adored it, so I had high hopes for the movie and I was not disappointed! I found it stayed pretty true to the book, and it definitely gave me the suspensful, creepy feeling I had when I read the book! The soundtrack was a key player in that, and Rosamund Pike was delightfully creepy. That bedroom scene?! Even though I knew it was coming, it totally caught be by surprise. Speaking of movies, you should also go see This Is Where I Leave You!! The casting is perfect, and the acting is fantastic. I haven’t read the book but this movie really made me feel all the feelings, if you know what I mean. I almost went to see it twice, but the night I went to see it the second time, the projector wasn’t working so I ended up seeing Gone Girl instead. So yes, go see it!

3. As for TV, I watched a couple new pilots over the weekend that I really enjoyed, Bad Judge (with Kate Walsh) and A to Z (with people I’ve never heard of). I wasn’t expecting to like A to Z, but it really surprised me. I’m not usually one for really cutesy TV shows, but this is quirky yet cute, and drew me in. I’m not sure how long it will last, but I’ll keep watching! Bad Judge was pretty funny, I’m interested to see where it goes. I love Kate Walsh, she plays the character really well. Any pilots you guys have watched and recommend? Besides How To Get Away With Murder of course! I’m really loving that show, Shonda really can do no wrong.Except for the special effects on Grey’s this year…they need to fix that shit ASAP. ¬†This is a really (albeit a bit long) interview with Shonda that I found interesting. I love that she really, truly, takes shit from no one, yet is respectful at the same time. ¬†This¬†is another article I read earlier this week that I loved, which examines how Alicia Florrick’s (Good Wife, duhhh) campaign is going to make for an interesting season. Last week’s episode was particularly good writing & editing. I’m such a nerd when it comes to that kind of thing!

4. Dragging myself away from movies and TV for a second…School, Work, school, sleep is pretty much my everyday routine. I’m forcing myself to take a slower week next week, including taking next Friday off because otherwise I’m gonna run myself straight into the ground! I’ve noticed that I’ve felt overwhelmed for about a month now, so something needs to change. I love being busy, but making time for yourself is just as important. It’s Thanksgiving this weekend over here in Canada land so I’m looking forward to a Friendsgiving, and hopefully just chilling the eff out for a bit. If this scene from last Friday repeated itself, I wouldn’t be mad!

Truth: The time of year in which I get to watch Hocus Pocus is the BEST. Mildly obsessed with that movie.

5. And, I have to keep this post on the shorter side because I am running out of time this morning! I chose an extra 20minutes of sleep instead of writing a long blog post, sue me!

What was the last movie you saw?

10 things I wish I told myself….

Happy Monday!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I know I did! I’m also super happy that the weather has turned around and we are back to sunshine/ Indian summer over here. It was gloomy all weekend, and while I can appreciate a good stormy day, my mood is significantly happier when the sun is shining! Today’s Blogtober prompt is 10 things I wish I told myself when I started blogging…

{ generic laptop/notebook/lame blogging photo found via tumblr}

1. The comparison trap is very real in the blogging world. Don’t get caught up in it. While the grass may look greener on the other side, your grass is equally as green, so be thankful for it!

2. You have to find your own voice. Don’t try to copy other blogggers’ writing style. Just be yourself, always.

3. Blogging takes up a significant amount of time. You can’t rush, because when you hurry to write and publish something, it will most likely be unsatisfying and you will hate it. Sometimes you won’t have the time, and that’s okay.

4. Never apologize for not posting. Don’t feel guilty for taking time away. ¬†This isn’t your full time job, so chill out!

5. Commenting on other people’s blogs is the way to make friends. People don’t magically find you, you have to put yourself out there and make friends!

6. Not everyone is going to like you, and that’s okay. You can’t please everyone, don’t take it personally.

7. You’re going to make some really good friends. There are some really wonderful people out there, cherish those friendships.

8. The free wordpress themes suck. If you’re going to stick to this, just invest in a good theme. ( Working on this. This theme is driving me cray. )

9. It’s your blog. Talk about what you want! Don’t be ashamed to talk about something you like.

10. You’re first posts are super embarrassing. It’s inevitable, it’s okay if you suck at this blogging thing at first. Everyone does.

Blogtober14 : day four & five

Happy Sunday!!

Yup, we are only five days in and I have already failed at blogging every day. Womp, womp. I’m not even going to try to make up an excuse as to why I didn’t blog yesterday. I simply didn’t want to, so I didn’t! Since I missed yesterday’s prompt of¬†my favorite instagram photo, I’ll just quickly jump¬†to what I narrowed down as my three favorites :
10150596_10153993217070381_1986726824_n

1) For obvious reasons. My best friend & I at the Grand Canyon last March. Trip of a lifetime to say the least. I wrote about our Vegas & L.A trip here, here and here ūüôā

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

2) My friend Corry & I, waiting in line at the Shania Twain concert last month. Chosen because it cracks me up that he fell asleep on the concrete in the middle of a huge crowd of people. I wrote about the concert here!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

3) Because this is my happy place.

These are all pretty recent photos from my Instagram. Looking far back into my Insta photos made me realize how embarrassing my earliest Insta posts were. I must say I’ve gotten much better since the beginning, feel free to follow me!

And now for today’s prompt : my¬†fall bucket list!

Fall is by far my favorite season, so like the rest of the world I started doing fall related things at the beginning of September!! Thus, I’ve put a strike through the fall shit I’ve already accomplished !

1. Paint pumpkins

2. Bake pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, drink ALL the pumpkin spice lattes & try a Tim’s pumpkin pie doughnut

3. Pick apples in the Valley

4. Go shopping for fall/winter clothes

5. Watch Hocus Pocus

6. Go whale watching (weird, I know, but I’ve always wanted to go!)

7. Attend a Halloween Party

8.Candy. Corn.

9. Go hiking & take photos – the colors in the fall leaves are my favorite!

10. Host Friendsgiving! ( This is happening next weekend, as Canadian Thanksgiving is next weekend!!)

That’s all the things I can think of that I really want to do! And as I read it over, it looks very, very similar to Helene’s hilarious “Basic Girl’s Fall Bucket List” . I’m not even ashamed one bit!

What’s on your fall bucket list?!

i’m feeling 22

IMG_1024.JPG

Today is my twenty second birthday. While I am most likely going to be saying this every birthday for the rest of my life, it’s hard for me to believe another year has already gone by. Twenty one treated me pretty well, and I’m looking forward to seeing what 22 has in store for me.

I wrote one of these posts last year. I can remember exactly where I was, and what I was doing when I wrote that post. It’s funny to ¬†think back and realize how I have grown and how so many things have changed over a single year. ¬†Posts like these are my favorite to read, so I’ve deemed it tradition to write one each year for my birthday. Maybe you won’t agree with all of them, so consider them more of reminders to myself.

1. Money spent on travel will never be wasted. Some say travel is overrated, but this gypsy soul strongly disagrees.

2. Be yourself. Especially when you are making new friends. Just be you.

3. Happiness is a choice. A choice only you can make for yourself. Don’t let others determine your happiness.

4. You don’t have to drink to have a good time.

5. Naps are underrated – they aren’t a waste of time. Sometimes you just have to sleep it off.

6. Do something you love for a living. Life’s too short to hate your job. Work hard to get that job you love. Nothing is going to be handed to you.

7. That thing you dreamt about since you were a kid, yet thought it would never ever happen? It can totally happen. Keep on dreaming, kids.

8. Boys are dumb. Plain and simple. You’ll find a good one, someday.

9. Always put the thing you are least looking forward to doing at the top of your to-do list.

10. Ignoring people when you are angry with them is not a productive way to work through it. Talk it out.

11. It’s okay to choose sleep over going out sometimes. I cannot stress enough how important sleep becomes.

12. Life is all about balance – try to find it. Yet realize everything is not going to balance out perfectly.

13. It’s good to try new things. Challenge yourself.

14. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Give yourself a break.

15. Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion, but respect the fact that others are also entitled to their own opinions.

16. You can never go wrong with a night of watching Friends on the couch with your best friend. Sometimes it’s all you need.

17. Stand up for what you believe in – even if it’s not what everyone around you believes in.

18. Take vitamin D in the winter, unless you are lucky enough to live somewhere the sun shines all year round.

19. Never put kale in a smoothie, unless you enjoy the taste of dirty garbage. Just my personal recommendation.

20. Be kind to yourself. Hating on yourself gets you nowhere, so you might as well not waste the time!

21. It’s okay to act like a kid every now and then. Work hard, play hard.

Here’s to being happy, free, confused, and lonely. All at the same time.
( sorry, I had to. )

The return of thinking out loud Thursday!

One of the things I have missed most about blogging is my regular Thinking Out Loud Thursday posts! I really love just spilling whatever is randomly on my mind into this big blank box.

Thinking-Out-Loud

So here is my Thinking Out Loud for this week!

1. I haven’t ran in over two weeks. And that’s okay. I started cutting back on running when I started my exam period, just due to lack of time. As time went on, I began to realize that while I was totally physically capable of running, I just couldn’t get my head in the game. It got so bad I actually started crying in the middle of one run, and that’s actually the last time I ran. They say running is what, 80% mental? I completely believe that. I’m going to start running again when I feel like it. When I get the urge to run, I will run. For now, biking has taken the place of running, and I love it. I always fall in love with biking during the summer, and this summer is no different! Plus, biking in 100% humidity is way better than running in 100% humidity!

2. I really, really want to see Guardians of The Galaxy. Truth: up until two months ago, I had never seen a superhero movie before, ever. ¬†Then I watched Ironman with a friend, and now I want to watch ALL the superhero movies. I’ve finished the Batman movies, and am now moving on to Superman. Or maybe X-Men. But yes, can we discuss just how freakin’ handsome Chris Pratt is?! It’s so funny to me that he’s ¬†big movie star now.

tumblr_mhmcvwsGLP1s05jd5o1_500

He will always be Andy Dwyer to me.

But i’ll take this version too. Yes, please.

3. Do you have any idea how pumped I am to watch TV again?! I went over two months without watching a single episode of any television show. I know it’s quite literally the definition of a first world problem, but I really freaking missed TV. It’s only been a week and I have already re-watched the first two seasons of The Mindy Project, and 12 episodes of The Good Wife. I am currently about to start watching Suits for the first time ever, as a bunch of my friends have raved about it and I want to see what all the fuss is about!

4. Uhmmm, let’s talk about how this is the greatest thing ever. The creativity of the people at Jimmy Fallon astound me. This is hilarious, and I love it

Also, these “Fred-ex” videos from Late Night with Seth Meyers have been killing me lately aswell. No one does improv characters quite like Fred Armisen.

5. I’M GOING TO NEW YORK CITY.Ariel and I finally had the time to sit down together last Friday and we did some serious planning for our upcoming trip. Novemeber 12-17th, 2014, I will be living my dream of finally visiting New York fucking City. SO excited. Who wants to come with us?!

6. I also found out that the original musical, If/Then that Idina Menzel is starring in will still be playing when I’m there, so I died a little bit. I guess you could say i’m KINDA excited about seeing Idina freaking Menzel. Just a tad.

7. A bunch of my friends and I are going to do this super cool thing called¬†GISHWHES. aka the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt The World Has Ever Seen. You do it in teams of 15, and since we only had about 7 of our friends, the people at GISHWHES fill in the rest of your team with random people from all over! We’ve already conversed with the rest of our team, and they all seem pretty cool! Basically this scavenger hunt has absolutely crazy, creative things each team must take a photo or video of in order to earn points. I don’t expect us to win, but I am really excited to do something creative and a little out there!

8.¬†This¬†article struck me really funny. I’m an idiot. Sneeze paper, anyone?

9. I am headed to the city this weekend with Ariel and I am super excited about it. It’s one of those weekends where we have absolutely no plans whatsoever, and are going to just play everything by ear and see how it goes. Hopefully the weather is nice and we can do some exploring. I haven’t taken my camera out in forever, and I’m craving a good photography adventure.

As much as it annoys me to stop my list on an odd number, that’s all I’ve got running around my head right now!

Tell me something random!

Do you have weekend plans?

What is your favourite superhero movie? I need suggestions!

confessions

20140618-125114-46274417.jpg

Happy Wednesday!

Sarah  sometimes does these confession posts, and this is the most coherent form of a post I could put together, so here you go!

I confess that…

… I took absolutely zero photos over the weekend. None. I’m a terrible blogger. But then again, when you spend almost the entire weekend studying, there isn’t that much to take photos of? Except maybe the kick ass cookies I made.

… The photo above has absolutely nothing to do with this post. Jessie’s just at that point where she is kind of shed her winter hair but still is pretty scruffy. Adorbs.

… I actually wrote this post on Monday night and haven’t had the time to edit/post it until now.

… By Friday evening last week I was so behind on sleep that my face started to get twitchy. I’d never had that happen to me before, so at first I thought it was the excess caffeine, but I’m pretty sure it was how tired I was.

… Sara Bareille’s album The Blessed Unrest is my favorite studying music, but I’ve listened to the album so many times over the past little while that I’m not sure if I can ever listen to it again after this. Which is unfortunate because it is AMAZING.

… I currently have the travel bug SO BAD. I REALLY want to do a blog friend meet up. Like, ASAP. I also think it would be really fun to do my first half marathon with blogger friends. Does anyone have access to a money tree and would like to sponsor me to fly me to all these places? Thanks.

… I need a personal stylist. I need some new summer clothes for work, and I have no desire to go shopping. So yes, please someone volunteer to pick out my clothes and dress me every morning. Thanks!

… it seems like all of a sudden all my close friends are dating people and I’m sitting here wondering how the eff anyone does that terrifying thing they call dating. I love my dog, and I’m content with that, thank you very much. #foreveralone

… The thing I am most excited about after exams is my celebratory post-exam nap I’ve already planned on having. Oh, and beer.

…I miss living in a city. Plain and simple.

… my brain is officially fried and I cannot think of anything else to say…

What would you like to confess?

currently…

20140428-094530.jpg

Hey guys!

I’m alive. I kind of disappeared last week, I know. I just felt as though I needed a break from blogging. I find myself occasionally getting stuck in a mindset where I feel as though I have to post everyday, or that I have to think of something good to post about everyday. I felt as if lately I haven’t been able to produce anything I’m happy with, and that lead me to feeling super frustrated. Which I realize now is the silliest thing in the world. So I took last week off, and it was great. I spent a lot of time with my friends, doing things like in the photo above ( laughing, a lot). And now I’m back!

I saw this ” currently ” post on a blog I am currently obsessed with, Breanna Rose. I thought it’d be a good way to ease back into it this week. So, here is what I am currently….
MAKING this blog post!
COOKING chickpeas, onion, tomato, feta, Greek dressing. Tupperware lunch!
DRINKING H20
READING a book called Stiff, it’s about human cadavers. I’m not a freak, I swear. It’s SUPER fascinating and is a NY Times best seller so I’m not the only one who finds that shit interesting!
WANTING the rain to stop and the sun to come out.
LOOKING taking a break from looking at my physics textbook.
PLAYING the Blogged 50 Indie playlist on Songza!
WASTING time checking social media. a really, really bad habit.
SEWING hahahahaha. do I seem like the kind of person that sews?
WISHING i had unlimited amounts of Tim’s iced coffee.
ENJOYING a rest day. Why have I not taken Mondays off from exercise before?
WAITING to pick Ariel up from her wisdom teeth surgery.
LIKING that all my friends are home.
WONDERING if my client’s will show up at work today. Worst part of my job is relying on other people so much.
LOVING last night’s episode of The Good Wife.
HOPING it’s nice enough to go running outside tomorrow.
MARVELING Scandal season finale, which I watched again last night. Also, Parks & Rec season finale. Holy. Shit.
NEEDING a nap ( or more coffee )
SMELLING breakfast.
WEARING jeans & a shirt. Also known as my work clothes.
FOLLOWING my to do list. I find it helps when I actually write one down instead of relying on my mental one.
NOTICING it is freezing in my house.
KNOWING I really, really hate physics.
THINKING about tomorrow’s post.
BOOKMARKING blogs on blogs on blogs. Making up for last week?
OPENING the fridge.
GIGGLING at Scandal bloopers.
FEELING Anxious, because I have to find a First Aid/ CPR course SOON.

What are you currently ? Answer a couple for me! ūüôā

thinking out loud thursday #6

I missed Thinking Out Loud Thursday last week and that made me sad, so here I am, back this week on my absolute favorite day to blog! Ready for some random ?

20140327-084345.jpg

1.¬†It’s cold outside. Like, -7 with the wind chill. I’m upset about it, and was supposed to go running this morning but I’m being a baby and waiting until later with the hopes that the wind will chill the fuck out and it will warm up a bit..here’s hoping?

2. This is a cool thing that is finally happening. Also, Tina & Amy are making another movie together. Beyond excited!

3. Ariel & I are planning on taking a trip to NYC ( hopefully!!) this fall. I can’t even think about it too much because I get really excited, but we are trying to decide when to go. Do we go in the fall, in October, so it’s still kind of warm but all the fall colors & pumpkin flavored wonderfulness is out? Or do we wait until the end of November-ish, when all the Christmas decorations are out?! HELP. Anyone who has been there have any suggestions?!

4. Does anyone watch The Mindy Project? If you don’t, you should. I’m going through a real Mindy Kaling obsession right now. I really want to be her best friend. Also, there are a lot of hot guys on The Mindy Project. Chris Messina is the dreamiest, right?

5. Speaking of Mindy Kaling, have you seen the video she did for Vogue? Hilarious. And her Jimmy Kimmel interview was pretty great too.

5. I feel like life is kind of going three thousand miles a minute and I’m only going about one thousand miles a minute. More on this tomorrow. If I have time to put the thoughts swirling in my mind into a coherent post. That’s a big if.

6. Macbook users – Air or Pro? My three year old Acer just isn’t cutting it anymore and I have wanted a Mac foreverrr, but holy $$$. I’m trying to justify the purchase in my head, because it really is something that I use every single day at both work and for school, but two thousand dollars on a piece of metal? Cray. So yeah, thoughts ?!

7. I hate how bad I have been at commenting on blogs lately. HATE. I’m reading, you beautiful people, I just…actually, I don’t really have any plausible excuse. I’ll try to be better, promise.

8. My best guy friend is in Florida right now and I’m trying really hard not to be bitter about it. I want sunshine too!

9. Scandal season finale is on tonight. I’m not ready. Nope.

10. I keep forgetting Easter is this weekend. That reminds me I have to get a Cadbury Creme egg Mcflurry before they take them away. Thank goodness for blogs, otherwise I’d have nowhere to write a reminder to myself to stuff myself with delicious ice cream. OH, and the self serve froyo place in my town is FINALLY opening up at the end of April. I’m beside myself with excitement, obvs.

11. I’m really digging evening runs. They remind me of summer, and how it is slowly but surely getting closer.

12. Two last videos to share. First up, I found this video of two older women flying for the first time and my heart melted. They are so adorable, and it made me extremely happy. It’s about 9 minutes of video, but if you want to feel happiness, watch it!

Second, this song. On repeat. It’s gonna Be Okay.

That was possibly the most random TOL ever. Also, kind of pictureless. I’m sorry, I have not been taking any photos whatsoever this week. My bad.

Is it Friday yet?
