the 2015 golden globe awards

Happy Monday everyone!

If you’re like me and stayed up later than usual to watch the Golden Globes – I feel ya this morning. Treat yoself to an extra cup of coffee today because you deserve it. If you aren’t already aware, award season is my FAVE, and I LOVE to do recaps. I’m a bit sad I don’t have more time this year to write a recap, but I did my best in between commercial breaks!

Let’s started with my picks for best dressed, shall we?

Salma Hayek – the fabric of this dress is a bit odd, but I love the fit & color of it!

Emma Stone – I love this look SO MUCH! It’s perfect for her body, I love the giant bow & the top of her jumpsuit is sparkly and fantastic. Next to Emily Blunt, I think this might be my favorite look.

Viola Davis – I know some people say wearing red on the red carpet is boring & predictable but I have to disagree. I think Viola looks absolutely stunning, and girl’s got some ARMS.

Allison Williams – Allison always looks dainty and fabulous and this look is no different. Her hair is borderline though – I HATE the wet hair look (see : Maria Menounous last night) but the dress makes up for it. Another red dress that I really liked!

Diane Kruger – truth: I have no effing clue what Diane Kruger is from/acted in/why she’s at the Golden Globes..but I love me a sparkly silver dress. A+, lady who I don’t know, ya killed it.

Lorde – I love me a jumpsuit. I love the crop top & her necklace. This kind of feels like it belongs at a music awards show, not the Golden Globes, but I’m still madly in love with it.

Amy Adams – she kind of nails it every time. Simple, yet elegant and not boring.

Anna Faris – I love this dress! Anna Faris is just adorable, and I loooved how cute her & Chris Pratt looked on the red carpet together.

Emily Blunt – I’m not sure why her face looks funny in this photo but OMG this dress! I think this whole look might be my fave. The braid halo, the dress, everything! Love. It.

Lupita Nyong’o – Lupita is quite possibly the most gorgeous human on the planet. The purple complements her skin so well, its so beautiful!

‘Kate Hudson – If I had a body like that, I’d wear a dress like that too. Bravo, Kate. If ya got it, flaunt it.

Anna Kendrick – Beautiful dress. She’s so stunning. Simple and Classic.

Aaaand the hosts of the evening : Amy & Tina. I will admit I did not care for their red carpet looks (except for Tina’s hair & jewels!) so I was sooo glad when they walked out on stage in much, much better dresses. These ladies absolutely killed the opening monologue, as per usual.

A. freaking. men.

The theme of this year’s golden globes seemed to be North Korea. The bit in the opening monologue was good. The Meryl bit was easily the best bit, but it kinda went downhill from there.

I haven’t seen Big Eyes yet, but this was good.

Award shows are like my Olympics. Not just because I love the fashion, and the jokes, and the drunk celebrities, but because they open my eyes to so many great films & television shows. Transparent was a big winner last night, as was Boyhood & Birdman. The Affair, Still Alice, The Grand Budapest Hotel, A Most Violent Year, Selma,  House of Cards (which has been on my must watch list for a year now), the list goes on. It always takes me awhile to fall asleep after watching because I’m so inspired by these wonderfully creative people who create amazing things. Hollywood is weird and awful in a lot of ways, but it does expose the world to talented people and real wonderful things.

/end weird rant. It’s 1 am and I am exhuasted, so please forgive me.

Moving on….

George Clooney gave a very nice speech while accepting some Lifetime Achievement award. He said very nice things about his wife that made my simultaneously “awh” and throw up in my mouth a little bit. I don’t know whose luckier: George Clooney because he is married to Amal, or Amal because she is married to George Clooney. Or maybe it’s Julianna Marguiles, because George Clooney called her “Jules”. Moral of the story: I’d still tap George Clooney.

sidenote: Did y’all catch their interview with E!’s Guilianna Ranic when she tried to get them to do tequila shots? Have you ever seen a more awkward interview in your life?! The side eye shade that Amal was throwing Gulianna was HILARIOUS.

Then Tina Fey came out in a rumpled tuxedo and everything was awesome. Would it be weird if my life goal was to succesfully pull off jumpsuit/lady tux? I just love them.

I’m rooting for Bill Hader & Kristen Wiig to host next year. They did a great job presenting, quite possibly the one presenters who weren’t awkward or inappropriate ( looking at YOU, JEREMY RENNER).

Overall it was  great show, with a LOT of diversity amongst the winners this year, which is always great to see. Now I know how many movies I have to watch before the Oscars.

Did you watch the Globes? Who was your pick for best dressed?!

2014 in review

Happy Monday!

Sure, it may already be five days into the new year, but I really wanted to do a 2014 recap. I had noticed last week that all I saw all over social media was how 2014 was an absolute shitfest, or “the worst year ever”. I refrained from expressing my opinion of that at the time, but as I looked back through some old blog posts from throughout the year, I realized that for me, 2014 was the total opposite of a bad year.

Sure, it had it’s truly awful moments. Like, rock bottom awful. The winter of 2013-2014 truly was the worst winter have had since I was a kid. It lasted from November to May (seriously, we had a blizzard in MAY), and it just plain sucked. The best distractions proved to be photo taking adventures (there’s no denying snow is the prettiest), award shows (recaps are my FAVE posts).

Guys, I miss this beautiful face so much.

In March, I set off on my very first travel adventure with my best friend. We had ten sunshine filled days exploring Vegas, we went to a fan convention, we saw the Grand Canyon. We drove ourselves from Vegas to LA. I saw the entire cast of Parks & Rec (including Amy Poehler!!) in person. It’s with this trip that I officially fell head over heels in love with travelling.

April was filled with training for my very first 10K race, being teased by the weather with the idea of spring. May brought my first 10K. More photo adventures. The usual. May was also the celebration of my first year of blogging.

June and July consisted of the most schoolwork/studying I’ve ever done in my life. If I had to pick a low point of the year, I’d probably choose the majority of July. July saw many a mental breakdown, tears, not enough sleep and way too much coffee. However, as all things tend to do, it passed.

I had the entire month of August off from school, and I took advantage of it fully. I spent as much time as possible outside with my friends, teaching riding lessons, biking, riding ponies, visiting the beach, playing SO much softball, and generally enjoying time off. I fulfilled a childhood dream at the end of August when I got to see Shania Twain live in concert in PEI ( front row!!) . PEI weekend was by far my favorite weekend of the summer.

In September I turned 22, and finally fit into that damn Taylor Swift song. I celebrated with my favorite people in the entire world, and couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. Ariel and I won a 20K bike race we had trained over the summer for, and I think I forgot to blog about it. Oh, and I started school again. (Booooo).

October brought ALL THE FALL THINGS! However, the end of October was another low point as I suffered the loss of one of my dogs. I miss my sweet Rosie every single day, and I don’t think I’ll fix that piece of my heart that broke when she passed.

November brought the trip I’ve been waiting for since as long as I can remember. NEW YORK! It really, truly was a dream to finally explore that city, to see Broadway shows in person made my musical theatre heart burst with happiness. I’ve had the worst kind of wanderlust ever since I got back.

Then we have December. Which consisted of ALL the Christmas related things, multiple viewings of Frozen, drinks upon drinks upon games of cards against humanity with my favorite people, and a lot of schoolwork.

2014, you were overall a great year. I learned a lot about myself. I did things I never ever thought I would get to do. I was inspired by new friends, overwhelmed by the love of my old ones, cried a lot, watched a lot of telelvision, surpassed a lot of physical goals, and survived the tough times.

Christmas trees make me SO happy. Yes, she is crooked, LEAVE HER ALONE.

1.I totally started writing this post a week ago and then was too tired last Wednesday to finish & post it last week so this is  mish mash of last week’s news and this week’s news. 🙂

2. Idina Menzel annouced a world tour for next summer and I about died of happiness. Her site crashed immediately after she announced, so I sat anxiously, waiting to see if there was any Canadian tour dates and lo and behold there are. I immediately texted Ariel and she graciously told me that we can drive to Montreal to see Idina. I kind of have the most amazing best friend in the world, y’all should be jealous.

Update: We bought tickets!!! September 1st in Montreal, 6 rows back from the stage, baby.

For now, enjoy this version of Let It Go from the CMA Country Christmas concert from earlier this week. SO. freaking good. I loooove Jennifer Nettles a whole bunches.

4. Let’s talk about TV: uhmmm SCANDAL?!! Holy shit that winter finale was so good. I don’t know how I didn’t see that Olivia kidnapping thing coming, but I was like WTF. I was totally convinced Papa Pope was gonna come out of the closet and knife Jake when he went to get the blanket. The scene between Papa Pope & Liv was kind of heartbreaking. Liv’s mom is hella cray, and Mellie straight up TOLD Liz . Endless Love playing in the background when Charlie & Quinn were beating the shit out of each other/ doing it? I laughed SO hard. Grey’s Anatomy is all kinds of UGHHHH. Derek did the same weird thing a couple of seasons ago. Remember when he had that thing where he liked to drive really fast and recklessly? It feels like that Derek is back and it’s awful. I much prefer the happy MerDer. I’m really warming up to the Arizona storyline, I like Geena Davis’ character a lot. Clearly not enough to remember the character’s name. Oopsie. The Good Wife was spectacular as usual, Cary & Kalinda kinda stole the episode for me, the last few scenes broke my heart in two. I’m very curious to see how everything is going to play out.

5. Now, movies – who has seen Mockingjay?! I still haven’t seen it yet & it is killing me!! Also soooo pumped for Into The Woods on Christmas!  And Pitch Perfect 2. And Jurassic World – just so many good movies are coming out, I can’t stand it. And Cake, starring Jennifer Aniston. It’s different than what she usually does and it looks amazing!

6. Speaking of Jennifer Aniston, did you guys see the Curse Off she and Lisa Kudrow did on Jimmy Kimmel? Hilarious.

I would SLAY at a Curse Off. I really, really want to do one. I’m not sure what that says about me, but I think it would be freaking hilarious.

7. My Macbook came last night and I am already obsessed. Retina Display is SO PRETTY. Looking at my PC now is like looking through dirty glasses and it is awful. I must say I am excellent at giving myself Christmas presents.

IMG_6687

8. So far driving to Montreal for the concert next year are the only travel plans that I have and it is totally freaking me out. Ever since I got back from NYC, as happens every time I get home from a trip, I have spent a lot of time thinking about where I want to go next. January and February are going to be all about saving up the $$ to travel. I cannot for the life of me decide where I want to go, all I know is that I NEED to meet more blogger friends next year. I’m kind of obsessed with you guys 😉

9. What are your  favourite Christmas movies ?! I need some recommendations, I feel like I watch the same ones over and over every single year, and while I love them, I need some new ones! Do share please!

10. I’m unsure as to if I am going to watch Peter Pan Live tonight, but Laura Benanti auditioning for all the parts in the play is freaking hilarious.

Thanks again to Amanda  for hosting Thinking Out Loud Thursday.

Have a wonderful day lovely people!

holiday playlist!

Happy Tuesday!

It happened. Last week I broke out the Christmas music, and now I cannot. stop. listening. It’s an addiction and I’m listening to every possible holiday playlist I can get my hands on. I can take or leave gift guides, but if a blogger posts a Christmas playlist you can be damn sure I’ll listen to it. Annie posted her playlist a few weeks ago, and ever since then I knew I wanted to put together this playlist for you guys with some of my absolute favorites. There is a lot of upbeat stuff, because that’s just what I prefer. If I’m being honest, unless I am listening to a playlist on Spotify, I just have Idina Menzel’s holiday album on repeat. Last year it was Michael Buble’s (obsessed with White Christmas ft. Shania Twain, obvs. ), the year before that it was Glee.

Anyway, I’ll stop yammering and get to the music.

So, spill. What’s your absolute favorite Christmas album/ song?!

Also, if anyone is interested in exchanging Christmas cards with me leave me a comment/email!!! I looooooove getting/giving Christmas cards, so I thought why not include my online friends?!

1.  During the holidays, Bryant Park in NYC turns into this super amazing winter wonderland type deal, equipped with outdoor skating rink, and booths with vendors selling all kinds of neat stuff. We wandered for quite awhile through there, and came across a booth selling these awesome pouches. They are made by Pamela Barsky, and they are awesome. There were so many that I wanted – so many witty phrases, but after about 20minutes or so I finally decided on the one above. Sorry not sorry about the language. You should definitely visit her Etsy shop, they make great gifts! I also love this one  , this onethis one , and this one.

2. I saw the movie Best Of Me last night and I hate that I loved it. I’m one of those people who likes to act all tough, like I don’t like romance and love is gross blah blah blah. I’m pretty good at it most of the time, but put a romantic Nicholas Sparks movie in front of me and I’m toast. It’s ridiculous. James Marsden is in this movie, and he has scruffy facial hair, so basically that should be all the incentive you need to go see this movie.

3. Today is my first day back to work in two weeks and I am sort of excited about it. I’m glad I took two days off after I got back, but I am ready to get back into a solid routine. Travelling is my favorite, but routine is what makes me productive. Also, paid vacation does not exist when you are self employed so I best be getting to paying for all the crap I bought in New York.

4. Speaking of crap I bought, I bought this AMAZE winter coat at Old Navy that I am so in love with I want to wear it everywhere. I’ve been looking for a longer, puffy winter coat for awhile and I’m glad I finally landed it. Plus, it was only $60 during their outerwear sale. Hell Yes. Joe Fresh was also like walking into heaven. I got this sweater, and a few tshirts & a skirt – all for under $60.  I also purchased makeup at Sephora for the first time ever. Does that make me a girl now? I’m really, really bad at that kind of thing and would really love it if someone would come dress me & put my makeup on every morning. Please and thank you.

5. I’m trying really, really hard to not go into full holiday mode until atleast next week but it’s SO HARD. Last year I wrote exams until Dec.20th so I really didn’t get to do much Christmas related stuff so I am beyond excited to celebrate all December long with as much holiday related fun as possible, but I also don’t want to start to early and feel like I’m dragging it out? You know? Such a first world problem. I’ve got Idina Menzel’s Christmas album all downloaded, and just sitting in my itunes, torturing me. And I came across this music video for her version of Baby It’s Cold Outside with Michael Buble and I almost died. Michael Buble is my FAVE and this video is just beyond adorable.

Also, my parents have a rule of no Christmas decorations before December 1st, so there’s that.

6. These are hilarious. My personal fave?

7. I got to meet Kaitlin for lunch while I was in NYC, and she was the sweetest. Truth: I was super nervous, because I always am when I meet new people, but especially because it was the first time I’ve ever met a blogger friend! Anyone who introduces themselves with a hug is a winner in my books, and we had a great chat over lunch. I’d now like to meet all of you wonderful people so if y’all could hop on a plane and get your butts here to Nova Scotia that’d be graaaaand.

8. Pretty sure my first real NYC recap, aside from this weird word vomit thing I posted yesterday, will be about all the amazing food we ate while we were there. Typical, right? I already miss NYC food, and would KILL for Blue Bottle coffee right now.

9. Uhm, can we talk about Scandal for a hot minute?  Freakin’ Papa Pope is KILLIN’ ME. It’s the way he delivers those long speeches, his diction, that just kill me. Joe Morton is a great actor, he really makes the character great. Mellie can’t catch a break can she? I was kinda liking the VP, he seemed pretty decent. I also feel like there is this weird storyline that I haven’t quite figured out yet. Like WTF is actually happening with that Liz lady, and that guy Quinn & Huck were staking out? So confusing. HTGAWM is great. As expected. Haven’t watched Grey’s yet, but apparently it was really good? The previous week wasn’t the greatest, but that’s pretty much expected with Grey’s. The Good Wife is still my fave. It’s just so good. Alicia’s speech to Peter in the back of the cab? Stop banging the help? Fucking ace. YOU GO GIRL. And if Alicia & Finn could just get together already that’d be great, thank you. The Mindy Project got picked up for the full season, so that made my life last week. I’ve got Ariel hooked on it now, which is literally a miracle because she’s not into women lead shows at ALL, so if she likes it, most anyone would.

10. I tried really hard to think of a tenth thing because my OCD didn’t want to end on an odd number but I got nothing so I’ll just thank Amanda for once again hosting Thinking Out Loud Thursday!

#TGIT! Have a good one guys 🙂

What is your fave show right now?
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? What’s your fave Christmas album?

Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday to you all! Putting this up a little later than usual – but better late than never right?!

1. Officially 13 days until I leave for New York. I am so beyond excited it’s unreal. Ariel and I spent a couple hours on Saturday making a list of things we want to do, and most importantly, places we want to eat. I am so excited to eat ALL the food you guys. Aaaand I am super excited to meet a blog friend in real life for the first time! I have a meet up with Kaitlin planned and I cannot wait!
2. Yes, I, like every other person in the world, has had 1989 on repeat since Monday. I’m really loving the change to pop, to be honest, and I’m loving the whole “I have no interest in boys, I’d rather focus on my girlfriends and career right now” thing she’s got going on. I can relate, TSwizzle, I can relate. My favorite songs off the album (I love them all actually) would have to be Blank Space, Clean, and Wonderland.
3. I’m super excited to celebrate Halloween for the first time in a couple years. Last year I was in Florida, so I didn’t get to dress up and that makes me sad. This year I really wanted to be a witch from Hocus Pocus ( The SJP one, obvs), but lack of time to put together a costume eliminated that one. Ariel and I are going simple and being glow stick ladies. The part we are going to is a blacklight party, so we had to have something white or neon/glowing. I’m making Halloween themed cookies tomorrow and I am oddly excited about it. I just love holiday related crap.
4. It has rained for seven days straight here. SEVEN DAYS. I think I’ve seen the sun for a total of an hour over the past week. This weather is the WORST and it needs to STOP. It’s also fluctuating between muggy/humid and freezing cold. It’s totally ruining the end of fall for me. I hope to Jesus the weather is good in New York while we are there.
5. I went to a group fitness class the other week for the first time in literally forever. I can’t even remember the last time I did a group fitness class, and I looooved it. I plan on going whenever my schedule allows me. However, the BEST part about the whole thing was getting to snuggle my friends Chow puppy beforehand. Isn’t she the CUTEST?!

IMG_6524 (1) IMG_6525
6. Amy Poehler’s book, Yes Please, came out on Tuesday, and I’m kind of regretting pre-ordering it on Amazon because I’m apparently not going to receive it until November 4th and I’m kinda not okay with it. If this article is any indication, it’s going to exceed my expectations.
7. I’m currently reading Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso and Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham. I’d recommend both. I’ve actually taken the time to write down quite a few excerpts from Girl Boss, it’s that good. And Lena is just hilarious, candid, and just plain weird. It’s lovely and refreshing.
8. Let’s talk TV. Scandal is just starting to get crazy. It hasn’t been really crazy this season I’ve found, until last episode. Shit is starting to get cray. I’m looking forward to Mellie starting to get her shit together. I know her son died and all, but I need more from her storyline aside from cereal eating and bathrobes and Uggs. I’m still loving How To Get Away With Murder, I like how the story is starting to unfold and becoming easier to follow. I think it’s one of those shows that needs awhile to really get it’s feet under it. Grey’s is good. It makes me sad though. The episode from two weeks ago, the one with Merediths mother, was by far my favorite episode from the last few seasons. It reminded me of the old Grey’s, and I loved that. I’m starting to catch up on this season of Parenthood, and I’ve bawled both times. That show KILLS me. Which is saying a lot because I don’t usually cry. The Good Wife is by FAR the best show I’m watching right now. It’s just so, so good. The writing, acting, editing, just everything about it is spectacular. It’s the show I pay the most attention to minute details in, I just want to absorb everything.
9. This. X10.

IMG_6532
10. There is a new Marcel The Shell. If you don’t know what that is, I’m not sure we can be friends. Be a dear and watch the first one. Makes me smile!

IMG_6490

And with that, I leave you with the following question: WHAT ARE YOU DRESSING UP AS FOR HALLOWEEN?

I truly believe you are never too old to dress up.

Happy Scandal Thursday everyone!

thinking out loud thursday #16

Happy Thursday!

I’m going to switch over and do a Thinking Out Loud Thursday post today instead of Blogtober! Blogtober’s prompt was favorite Halloween costume, and I didn’t have any time to go through my old photos of Halloween costumes from when I was a kid, so I’m going to join Amanda today and ramble about a whole bunch of nonsense.

1. I totally scored reserved tickets to see a taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers when I am in New York in November!! We tried to get Jimmy Fallon tickets but, as expected, they sold out within the 30seconds it took us to get to the website. Sad face. However, I’m still excited to see a taping of Late Night, because as you all know, I’ve got a huge crush on Seth Meyers. Just a little over a month left until our trip!!!

photo 3 (1)

2. Has everyone seen Gone Girl yet? If you haven’t, you should! I read the book a few months back and adored it, so I had high hopes for the movie and I was not disappointed! I found it stayed pretty true to the book, and it definitely gave me the suspensful, creepy feeling I had when I read the book! The soundtrack was a key player in that, and Rosamund Pike was delightfully creepy. That bedroom scene?! Even though I knew it was coming, it totally caught be by surprise. Speaking of movies, you should also go see This Is Where I Leave You!! The casting is perfect, and the acting is fantastic. I haven’t read the book but this movie really made me feel all the feelings, if you know what I mean. I almost went to see it twice, but the night I went to see it the second time, the projector wasn’t working so I ended up seeing Gone Girl instead. So yes, go see it!

3. As for TV, I watched a couple new pilots over the weekend that I really enjoyed, Bad Judge (with Kate Walsh) and A to Z (with people I’ve never heard of). I wasn’t expecting to like A to Z, but it really surprised me. I’m not usually one for really cutesy TV shows, but this is quirky yet cute, and drew me in. I’m not sure how long it will last, but I’ll keep watching! Bad Judge was pretty funny, I’m interested to see where it goes. I love Kate Walsh, she plays the character really well. Any pilots you guys have watched and recommend? Besides How To Get Away With Murder of course! I’m really loving that show, Shonda really can do no wrong.Except for the special effects on Grey’s this year…they need to fix that shit ASAP.  This is a really (albeit a bit long) interview with Shonda that I found interesting. I love that she really, truly, takes shit from no one, yet is respectful at the same time.  This is another article I read earlier this week that I loved, which examines how Alicia Florrick’s (Good Wife, duhhh) campaign is going to make for an interesting season. Last week’s episode was particularly good writing & editing. I’m such a nerd when it comes to that kind of thing!

4. Dragging myself away from movies and TV for a second…School, Work, school, sleep is pretty much my everyday routine. I’m forcing myself to take a slower week next week, including taking next Friday off because otherwise I’m gonna run myself straight into the ground! I’ve noticed that I’ve felt overwhelmed for about a month now, so something needs to change. I love being busy, but making time for yourself is just as important. It’s Thanksgiving this weekend over here in Canada land so I’m looking forward to a Friendsgiving, and hopefully just chilling the eff out for a bit. If this scene from last Friday repeated itself, I wouldn’t be mad!

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset photo 2 (41)

Truth: The time of year in which I get to watch Hocus Pocus is the BEST. Mildly obsessed with that movie.

5. And, I have to keep this post on the shorter side because I am running out of time this morning! I chose an extra 20minutes of sleep instead of writing a long blog post, sue me!

What was the last movie you saw?

fridaaaay!

FRIDAAAAAAY!

(super original post title, I know!)

Honestly, I didn’t think I was going to make it to Friday this week. But I did! My plans for this weekend include schoolwork (the worst), getting some blog stuff done (way better), and watching Hocus Pocus while painting pumpkins! (the best). I’m choosing to paint pumpkins instead of carve them this year because I’m kind of ADD and get bored/frustrated halfway through carving a pumpkin.
I’m also totally watching as many Gilmore Girls episodes as possible, as it finally arriving on Netflix was probably the best part of my week, to be honest. Possibly rewatching last night’s Scandal & catching up on How To Get Away with Murder is on my to do list aswell! Ps: Bellamy Young (Mellie Grant on Scandal, duh!!) totally tweeted me last night! Yes, I still get excited when stuff like that happens! I think at this point I should have an entire separate blog to talk about Scandal, am I right?!

Anyways, the prompt for Blogtober today is one thing you could not live without.
I thought about this a lot last night, and I my answer is: my animals. I have no idea how there are people who don’t like animals, to be honest. The love my nuggets give me everyday makes me smile, and I cannot imagine life without them! The worst part about the two years I spent in the city for college was being away from my ponies & dogs!! I had to bring my guinea pig to my apartment after just a week away because I couldn’t stand not having at least one animal in my apartment!

thinking out loud thursday #15

Hi!! Happy Thursday!

Can we take a second to acknowledge how I’ve been absolutely nailing the whole blogging thing this week?! 4 posts in a row baby. Give me an award or something! K thanks.

It seems like its been forever since I’ve done a Thinking Out Loud Thursday, and at work today I realized how much shit I want to ramble about today. Thanks again to Amanda for hosting! Ready for randomness?!

1. First off, Scandal is on tonight, as I discussed yesterday. I’m already dreaming of this evening, glass of Bailey’s in hand, anxiously awaiting for Olivia Pope to come back into my life. SNL Promos were also released yesterday and I realized how freaking excited I am for Chris Pratt to host. I love that man.

I also really love Kate McKinnon.

That reminds me, I had a client today who asked me what I was going to be doing in New York, and I briefly mentioned that I would love to get tickets to a taping of Jimmy Fallon and he said he didn’t like Jimmy Fallon. It took every ounce of self control not to freak out. WHO DOESN’T LIKE JIMMY FALLON?! He’s had so many good videos lately!

sidenote: uhmmm how awesome was Barbra Streisand last week?! Maybe that makes me 60 years old or something for saying I love Barbra Streisand but damn she was great.

TURN DOWN FOR TUT

Basically everything Jimmy does is hilarious and you should watch the show every single day.

2. Despite my absolutely insane schedule right now, I’ve made the time to go for quite a few gallops in the field. Both solo and with Ariel. There’s nothing like coming home from a long day and saddling up and just chilling out for a bit. No better way to clear my head.

3. My brother turned 17 last Wednesday. SEVENTEEN.  We are five years, two days apart, and always been super close. I’m a lucky girl to have a brother like him.

4. My Aunt got me this Grumpy Cat mug for my birthday and it cracked me up. She is literally a crazy cat lady, and I love her for it. Ignore the fact I desperately need a mani & my arm looks like a man’s arm.

5. Speaking of Grumpy Cat, did you see that Aubrey Plaza is going to be the voice of Grumpy Cat in a Lifetime movie?! I’m not sure why a Grumpy Cat movie is necessary, but I cannot think of a more perfect person to voice it.

6. I’m doing the tour de New France this weekend! I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m doing a 20km mountain bike race with Ariel & her paramedic friends this coming Saturday. While Ariel and I have been training all summer, we did a practice trail ride as a group last Friday morning. Holy. Hell. Ariel and I have mostly been doing road training, with a few dirt roads thrown in there. However, the ride last Friday was INSANE terrain. I felt like I was literally rock climbing with my bike at times. It was a really beautiful ride though, a 12 km out and back trail, with the turn around point at a beautiful lake. I got SO muddy it was ridiculous! The picture doesn’t even do it justice. I can’t wait to see what kind of views New France will bring on Saturday, even if I am likely going to die.

7. We have literally only had one day of rain for the entire month of September. There have been a couple rainy nights, so we aren’t in a drought or anything, but the weather has just been beyond phenomenal. There is nothing better than waking up to sunshine every single day (even if I’m not loving the chillier weather), and beautiful sunsets every night. I. Love. Fall.

8. Speaking of fall, I laughed waaaay too hard at both of these.

9. I went running the other day for the first time in about a month. I had forgotten how much running hurts. I think I’ll get back into a regular running routine after this weekend. I have been biking a lot to try and prepare for New France, so running had fallen to the wayside. I’m still planning on running a half marathon at some point, but at this point I think I will end up waiting until next spring. I really, really wish I had a training buddy!

10. Ariel and I are planning on jumping headfirst into fall this weekend with a viewing of Hocus Pocus, pumpkin painting/carving and some sort of pumpkin recipe. I’m ready! We are also planning to go see This Is Where I Leave You this weekend, has anyone seen it? The cast is awesome, and it looks really good!

And that’s all I have to ramble about! There’s a 99% chance I won’t be posting tomorrow, so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

let’s talk about TV

September is my favorite month of the year for several reasons. The beginning of fall, my birthday, and the return of my favorite TV shows. If you’re new around here, you should know that I. Love. TV. I love talking about TV, and I am always in the midst of watching a million TV shows at the same time. Since this week is essentially the week that all the good TV comes back, I thought I’d do a post about all the shows I’m looking forward to!

Note: there ARE spoilers in this post. If you haven’t watched the shows, don’t read! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Last week a couple shows started back early, namely The Mindy Project and The Good Wife.

The Mindy Project

Where we left off : Mindy and Danny finally got their shit together and realized they were meant to be together. The Season 2 finale was based off of all kinds of romantic comedies mushed together and it led to a hilarious and epic makeout on the top of the Empire State building.

What happened in the premiere: The premiere centered mainly around Mindy & Danny, as to be expected. It was a fantastic start to a new season, and while I really hope they keep Mindy & Danny together, everyone knows it’s more dramatic when the TV couple you want to be together isn’t together. However, the last three or so minutes of the episode were BY FAR the best part …

Mindy Kaling is the luckiest woman in TV.

Now, The Good Wife …

Where we left off : Diane offered to leave Lockhart Gardner and join Alicia & Carey’s firm. Eli suggested Alicia run for states attorney. Peter is sleeping with his ginger intern. Will Gardner is still dead. Alicia & Carey are fighting. Basically, the shit completely hit the fan.

What happened in the premiere : The premiere caught me completely off guard. The whole Carey in jail for Lamone Bishop’s heroin thing was definitely not where I expected it to go. It was a dramatic and suspenseful episode. I was kind of hoping Finn & Alicia would get together.. but it doesn’t look like that’s happening. Surprise Surprise, the voters want Alicia to be states attorney. I have no idea where they are going to go with that, which I imagine is exactly what the writers want.

I still miss Will Gardner, even if I completely understand why they killed him off & appreciate the new life it gave the show. (pun intended)

I really wanted to catch The Mysteries of Laura last week, but I missed it.

I plan on catching up sometime this week. I mean, come one, it’s Debra Messing! Who didn’t love Will & Grace?! The answer is no one.

That pretty much covers everything that happened last week.. Now, this week is when all the queen of television, Shonda Rimes’ , shows come back on. Praise. Baby. Jesus. She’s basically taken over ABC, let’s be real. For God’s sake, they threw a huge party in honor of the #TGIT hashtag on Twitter for Shonda’s show. TGIT stands for Thank God It’s Thursday, duh.

Grey’s Anatomy

Where we left off: Meredith apparently has a half sister. Derek & Meredith are on the rocks. CRISTINA LEFT. Callie and Arizona are having another baby (right?) And that’s honestly all I remember..I haven’t had the time to re-watch the Grey’s finale like I did the other shows.

What I’m expecting : Shonda has said in multiple interviews that this season will be Meredith centered, with lots of flashbacks. I LOVE this. I miss the earlier seasons of Greys. I’m hoping they have flashbacks with her mom, even though she’s an awful character, storylines involving her are always good. I think it’s going to take a few episodes to see if the show has the same dynamic sans Cristina. Goddamnit Sandra Oh, why did you have to leave?!

Scandal

Where we left off : Uhm, I highly recommend re-watching last season’s finale before the new episode on Thursday. So. Much. Shit. Happened. Jerry Jr. died, thanks to Papa Pope. Mama Pope is in the hole (thanks to Papa Pope). Papa Pope is head of B613 once again. Fitz knows Jerry Sr. raped Mellie. Fitz can’t leave Mellie now. Olivia left Pope & Associates and is on a plane to fuck knows where with Jake. Harrison is dead. Fitz won the presidency and has 4 more years.

What I’m expecting : Honest to God, I have NO clue. I refuse to watch any promos, as promos merely give me anxiety. I love how unpredictable this show is. The only thing I expect is that Olivia won’t be in “paradise”, wherever that may be, for very long. I really want Olivia and Jake to be together, I’m kind of tired of the whole Fitz & Liv thing to be quite honest, but I know that is a core focus of the show. All I hope is that we continue to get lots of Mellie, because she has become one of my absolute favorite characters.

How To Get Away With Murder

I’m going to  DVR this, as it is coming on past my bedtime, but I am super excited for this. Viola Davis is amazing, as we found out from The Help, and it is a very interesting concept for a show. To be honest I’ve never disliked a show Shonda has written, but hopefully it fares better than Off The Map did ( does anyone remember that show?! It died waaaay too soon.)

Another alumni of Shonda, Kate Walsh is going to be starring in Bad Judge , which is another pilot I am super excited to watch.

And that’s it! Parks & Recreation doesn’t premiere until January, so I left my favorite show off this list. I’m currently in the middle of catching up on both Parenthood and New Girl on Netflix, as I didn’t have time to watch them in real time last year! I’m almost done Parenthood, so I’m hoping to be able to watch that show in real time this season, especially since it’ll be the last year of the show! I’m patiently waiting for new episodes of Suits to be added to Netflix. I also started watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix! I had never seen it before, and i’m so hooked. I’m only on season one, so it’ll take me awhile but I really love it. And yes, I know I am super late to that party!

Alright, talk to me! What shows are you most excited for? What shows should I be watching? Feel free to discuss to your hearts content. Like I said, i’ll talk about TV all damn day!
